Lloyd’s, the specialist insurance and reinsurance market, has appointed Christopher Mackinnon as its new general representative in Australia.
Mackinnon starts in early February and brings with him more than 21 years’ experience in the international insurance industry, having extensive knowledge of both the Australian and London markets. Prior to joining Lloyd’s, Mackinnon was chief executive officer at Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers, where he was responsible for the overall management of the group of companies. He has previously held roles in global brokerages Arthur J Gallagher, Aon, Marsh and CT Bowring, in both Sydney and London.
In his new role as Lloyd’s general representative, Mackinnon will be responsible for market development, and for liaising with market practitioners and regulatory authorities to maintain Lloyd’s presence in Australia.
Mackinnon said:
“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to lead Lloyd’s presence in Australia. I started my career as a Lloyd’s broker in the London Market, and look forward to being part of Lloyd’s again, and contributing to the growth and development of the business in Australia.”
