Talbot Underwriting Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Validus Holdings, Ltd., announced the appointment of Luis Sonville as Managing Director of Talbot’s Latin American regional offices (Talbot LATAM). He will manage Talbot’s facultative operations in Miami and Santiago, and will report to James Skinner, Active Underwriter of Talbot’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 1183.
Talbot said his “appointment reflects the continuing development and growth of Talbot’s business in Latin America.”
Talbot also announced that Mario Montero has been promoted to Head of Underwriting focusing on facultative business for Talbot LATAM and will support Sonville in this new structure.
Expressing his delight at the appointment Sonville said he and the underwriting team “are focused on expanding our facultative operations to better serve clients in Latin America.”
Skinner added: “Our LATAM operation continues to evolve and grow under the stewardship of Luis Sonville. Luis and Mario are the ideal individuals to lead Talbot’s operations in Latin America. Their expertise and in-depth market knowledge are invaluable as we continue to strengthen our presence throughout the region.”
The bulletin also noted that “Validus Reaseguros, the Latin American operation of Validus Re Switzerland, will continue to write the treaty book on behalf of Validus Re Switzerland, and Talbot will be working closely with the Validus teams in implementing the combined LATAM strategy.”
