Markel International, the specialist insurer, has appointed Antony Hope as senior underwriter and head of the management liability account in its professional and financial risks division (PFR).
Reporting to divisional managing director, James Hastings, Hope will manage and underwrite the division’s international portfolio of management liability business.
Hope joins Markel from Argo Global where he was deputy class underwriter for D&O since 2010 and where he both grew the syndicate’s core book and developed new, specialized niche D&O products. Prior to Argo, he was D&O underwriter at DUAL Corporate Risks and a D&O broker for HSBC Insurance Brokers Ltd.
Commenting on the appointment, Hastings said: “Antony is another senior appointment to our PFR team and he’ll be looking to grow our management liability business both in scale and by broadening the range of products that we offer our brokers and their clients. With 20 years in the market he is well known and has a strong and valuable set of broker relationships to add to our existing contacts.”
