XL Catlin announced the appointment of Phil Xue as chief executive officer (general manager) of XL Insurance (China) Co. Ltd.
The appointment is pending regulatory approval.
Xue will also act as country manager for XL Catlin in China, coordinating all in-country activities. Before joining XL Catlin, Xue spent more than 10 years with Guy Carpenter & Co., most recently as head of South China Market and head of its Shanghai Operation. He worked in Guy Carpenter’s Hong Kong Office for five years, before helping to set up the broker’s Shanghai office in 2012.
Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, Xue was with Royal Sun Alliance plc, Shanghai Branch and China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co. Ltd.
Xue graduated from East China University of Politics and Law and holds a master’s degree in international economic law. He also obtained a certificate of advance leadership program from Cambridge Judge Business School in 2016.
