Markel Int’l Taps Lazarus from Hiscox as Head of North American Property Reinsurance

Markel International, the specialist insurer and subsidiary of Markel Corp., has appointed Nick Lazarus as managing director, North American property reinsurance based in London.

Leading the existing and established London team, Lazarus will work closely with Peta White and her teams in Bermuda and Summit, N.J., to strengthen and broaden the Markel reinsurance offering to cedents worldwide, said the company in a statement.

Lazarus was previously senior underwriter at Hiscox and, latterly, was actively involved in the fronting of the Hiscox Re ILS funds and the marketing of its outward reinsurance relationships.

His 12 years in the industry have been spent entirely in the North American property reinsurance business.
