Swiss Re has announced that Nikhil da Victoria Lobo, currently managing director and head of Americas for its Public Sector Solutions (PSS) Division, has been appointed market executive for Western and Southern Europe (WSE) for reinsurance, effective July 1, 2020.
He succeeds Claudia Cordioli who was appointed chief financial officer of the Reinsurance Business Unit on March 1, 2020.
With nearly 20 years’ experience in the re/insurance industry, da Victoria Lobo, started his career at Swiss Re’s Securitas Capital in 2001 before working as an underwriter in the Latin American Facultative Property team. In 2008 he joined the company’s PSS business as one of its first client managers. Since then, he has initiated and nurtured relationships with senior government and business leaders in the U.S., Canada and Latin America and developed Swiss Re’s public sector franchise, said the reinsurer in a statement.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and speaks English, Spanish and French. He will be based in Zurich and will report to Urs Baertschi, CEO Reinsurance EMEA.
“In Nikhil we found a very strong internal successor for the WSE Market Executive role. Nikhil’s international outlook, languages and excellent client relationship skills make him the natural choice as the head of our Western and Southern European markets,” said Baertschi.
