Zurich Insurance Group has appointed Sierra Signorelli, currently group chief underwriting officer, to the role of chief executive officer for Commercial Insurance and as a member of the executive committee with immediate effect.
Signorelli succeeds James Shea, who has decided to leave Zurich to pursue opportunities outside the company. Signorelli’s successor will be announced in due course.

Signorelli joined Zurich in July 2017 as chief underwriting officer and became group chief underwriting officer in October 2020. She successfully transformed the underwriting function, strengthened its resilience, and ensured delivery of differentiated services and solutions to Zurich’s customers, said the company in a statement.
Prior to Zurich, she held various senior leadership positions for American International Group where she worked for 17 years, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Signorelli’s appointment to the executive committee is subject to regulatory approval.
