Broker Ardonagh Opens Data and Risk Management Center in Ireland, Bringing 60 Jobs

July 13, 2021

The Ardonagh Group, a top 20 global insurance broker and the UK’s largest independent insurance broker, announced it will open the Ardonagh Global Data and Risk Management Centre this month, bringing 60 new highly skilled, data science and analysis roles to Mullingar, County Westmeath, in Ireland.

The Data and Risk Management Centre will deliver data-driven insights to Ardonagh’s clients across the globe and help its 7,000-plus colleagues offer tailored solutions across a range of insurance products and related services, said the broker in a statement.

Conor Brennan, the CEO of Ardonagh’s Irish broking subsidiary Arachas, created the concept and led an approach to IDA Ireland, the agency that encourages investment into Ireland by foreign-owned companies. With a “meaningful investment” from Ardonagh, the data center secured the support of the Irish government, said the broker (which did not reveal the amount of the investment).

Ardonagh intends to work closely with the Athlone Institute of Technology to offer its graduates local and world-class career opportunities.

“Our Global Data and Risk Management Centre will focus entirely on improved outcomes for every participant in the value chain — forensically investigating our pool of data to build an improved understanding of risk, examining possible future outcomes and working with clients and insurer partners in preparation for the unknown,” commented David Ross, CEO of The Ardonagh Group.

“This skilled understanding and interpretation of our data will enable improved products with bespoke terms which accurately answer the needs of customers across the group, from our bike and car owners in Carole Nash and Swinton, right through to our newly created reinsurance unit, Inver Re,” he added. “This investment with the Irish government into an absolute focus on being one step ahead will be at the heart of every risk we manage.”

“Ardonagh considered many locations worldwide as a home for this centre, but ultimately, the Westmeath area stood out as a home for local talent and a high quality of life. At Arachas, we are delighted to be extending the presence of Ardonagh in Ireland, a further nod to the celtic roots of the Ardonagh brand,” said Brennan at Arachas.

“The Ardonagh Group’s decision to establish its Global Data and Risk Management Centre in Mullingar demonstrates the company’s confidence in the highly skilled and talented workforce available in the Midlands,” said IDA Ireland CEO Martin Shanahan.

Winning jobs and investment in regional locations is a key pillar of IDA Ireland’s strategy Driving Recovery and Sustainable Growth 2021-2024 and [the] announcement by The Ardonagh Group demonstrates the agency’s continued commitment to that pillar. I wish the team at Ardonagh every success with this expansion,” Shanahan continued.
