    Interesting numbers but these are only a PART of the equation.

    Workers are spending longer hours at the desk; instead of leaving the house at 7:00AM and returning at 6:30PM they (including me as an example), they log on earlier and stay on later than they would have done from the office. Plus, with the ‘cafeteria’ down the hall and no waiting lines at the rest room, working hours are longer than ever.

    That is strictly for the hourly aspect. Then there are the benefits to the environment (limited commuting / driving / ride sharing) and the personal economy (little need for dining expenses, limited commuting costs of gas and fares), admittedly to the detriment of the food /transit sector. Other downsides to avoiding the office include the impact on trainees or new hires.

    The old world of 9-5, Monday – Friday is no longer. Thank goodness for the hybrid workplace!
