QBE Promotes Massé to Head of European Claims

Commercial insurer QBE has promoted Virginie Massé to the role of head of European Claims, effective Sept. 1.

Since joining QBE two years ago, Massé has served as claims manager for France.

Massé has 25 years of experience in claims, including as executive claims director at AIG and as operations director for the Fonds de Garantie, a French body that helps compensate victims of road traffic accidents and terrorism.

In her new European role, she will remain based in Paris and will report to Mike East, claims director at QBE European Operations (EO).

“I am delighted that Virginie Massé will take on this role, which is a testament to the excellent pipeline of talent at QBE,” commented East. “Her customer centric approach will further bolster our European proposition by ensuring customers are at the heart of everything we do. Underwriting Agency Doe and Emuss Names Watmough as Professional Liability U/W

Doe and Emuss, the London-based specialist underwriting agency, announced the appointment of John Watmough, a professional liability expert with more than 25 years’ experience in the London insurance market.

Based in London, Watmough has joined Doe and Emuss as underwriter and director of Broking, where he will strengthen D&E’s broking and underwriting capabilities while adding a new dimension to the firm’s client offering.

Widely respected for his deep knowledge of the North American insurance landscape, Watmough’s market expertise and strategic insight make him a powerful addition to the team as Doe and Emuss continues its growth and evolution, the company said.

Doe and Emuss is an independent underwriting manager and Lloyd’s coverholder based in London. The company was set up in 2024 and provides professional liability insurance to small and medium-sized (SME) businesses in the United States and Canada via wholesale brokers in the London market and Lloyd’s.
