The tornado that pummeled Granite Falls, Minn. earlier this week is estimated to have caused $8.1 million in damage to homes and other property.
Homeowners suffered $3 million in losses and $2.8 million in damage to vehicles and other items, according toState Farm estimates. As much as $2.3 million in damage occurred to public property, according to a preliminary damage assessment by the state Division of Emergency Management.
The storm killed one person and injured 15.
