Missouri’s Director of Insurance, Scott B. Lakin, announced that the department has opened a new Internet connection, “The Public Portal,” which will “gather comment on pending issues, beginning with conditions in the Missouri medical malpractice insurance market.”
The Portal can be accessed at: http://www.insurance.state.mo.us/portal/index.htm, and will enable members of the public to submit comments electronically, even if they cannot attend public hearings or in lieu of mailing written comments to the department.
Lakin indicated he plans to expand the Public Portal later to allow comment on pending rules and regulations proposed by MDI.
The Oct. 30 public hearing on medical malpractice has had to limit presentations to “seven pre-planned panels of witnesses.” The new portal will meet public demand for a way to make comments on the issue.
