Ohio-based Century Insurance Group announced that Nicholas Alexander, the former deputy director of the Ohio Department of Insurance, has been named as general counsel.
Roswell P. Ellis, President, Chairman and CEO stated that Alexander would fill “a key executive position during an important time in Century’s history.” Citing Alexander’s “outstanding insurance, financial and legal background, Ellis indicated that he “will be a valuable resource as we implement and execute our long-term business plan.”
“Century Insurance Group has unprecedented opportunities in the current insurance marketplace, and we are pleased to add an experienced professional of Nick’s caliber and stature to our team,” he added.
Prior to joining the Ohio Department of Insurance in July 1999, Alexander served as senior VP, secretary and general counsel of ACCEL International Corporation, an insurance holding company founded in Columbus. He was previously a principal and partner with the law firm of Mayer, Terakedis and Blue, and served for 10 years as corporate counsel and a member of the finance department with the Ohio Company, an investment banking firm.
