IES is an optimal solution for employers that either cannot provide or have difficulty providing modified job accommodations for injured or disabled employees. The program identifies a position for employees within their restrictions at a local not-for-profit organization, approved by their treating physician. In addition, a nationwide network of specially trained vocational counselors is available to support employees as needed.
The program offers benefits to the employer and employees during an otherwise challenging situation. Studies indicate that employees who perform valuable services in their communities return more quickly to their regular duties. An employer benefits by welcoming back recovered employees who have maintained a continued relationship to workplace expectations. In many cases, employers and labor unions can work together to select not-for-profits willing to participate in this program. The community and the not-for-profit benefit by receiving labor at no cost.
