Ohio Insurance Director Ann Womer Benjamin announced that Michael Fulwider will join her senior staff as communications director. Fulwider is currently the director of Communications and Media Relations for Columbus Public Schools. He will start with the department at the end of June.
Fulwider previously has served as director of External Communications for the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C., press aide to late U.S. Senator H. John Heinz, and as a public affairs officer for the Resolution Trust Corporation/FDIC.
“I am thrilled that Michael has decided to join my senior staff,” Director Womer Benjamin said. “His experience and expertise in the communications field will allow the Department to develop and implement a strategy focusing on educating Ohio’s consumers about the Department and the insurance industry.”
As communications director for the Ohio DOI, Fulwider will be responsible for the development and implementation of consumer outreach programs, development of educational materials, and working directly with the media on affairs involving the department.
