Ohio Sen. George Voinovich will not return the $85,000 now-bankrupt PIE Mutual Insurance co-founder and convicted fraudster Larry Rogers donated to his campaign, according to the Associated Press.
PIE, once a leading medical liability insurer, went belly up in 1998 and Rogers was sent to federal prison for insurance fraud, tax evasion and making illegal campaign donations.
A spokesman for Voinovich said the money was donated for the senator’s gubernatorial campaign and there is no money left in that campaign’s account.
