Chicago-based brokerage Acordia Inc. has acquired the assets and business of McDermott Brokerage Inc., headquartered in Omaha, Neb.
The McDermott Brokerage has served clients in the Omaha area since 1980, specializing in employee benefits. The agency will be combined with the Acordia office at 13305 Birch Drive, Suite 202, Omaha.
The acquisition is the second such Acordia acquisition in Omaha in the last 30 days—Care Insurance Services was acquired Aug. 1. The two acquisitions, when combined, increase Acordia’s presence in Omaha by over 200 percent. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
Acordia is a subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Co. and the sixth-largest insurance brokerage in the world.
