About 1,800 small business employers across Kansas recently received a survey in the mail that could help policymakers find ways to make health insurance more accessible and affordable, according to a statement released by the Kansas Insurance Department (KID).
The survey is being funded by a grant awarded to KID by State Planning Supplemental Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to gather information from business owners about the challenges they face in providing health benefits to their employees. In an effort to identify solutions, the department formed a partnership with a research team from the University of Kansas Medical Center to conduct the survey.
After the business surveys are completed, focus groups will be held this fall in Wichita, Garden City, Salina and Kansas City to discuss ideas for improving the accessibility and affordability of health insurance.
