The appointment of Chris Godfrey as the new commissioner of Workers’ Compensation of the Iowa state Workers’ Compensation Division was announced today by Governor Tom Vilsack and Lt. Governor Sally Pederson.
Godfrey, 33, is a practicing attorney with special expertise in the areas of employment discrimination and workers’ compensation law. He holds B.S. and J.D. degrees from Drake University.
A resident of Des Moines for the past five years, Godfrey is currently an associate attorney at Max Schott and Associates, P.C. He will replace Commissioner Mike Trier, who retired in December 2005.
If his appointment is approved by the Iowa Senate, Godfrey will assume his duties Jan. 9, 2006.
