A former vice president of a suburban St. Louis title insurance agency pleaded guilty to mail fraud in November and now has been sentenced to six years in prison, according to the Associated Press.
Thomas Kurzenberger Jr., used his customers’ escrow deposits to support his drug habit. The U.S. attorney’s offices said the fraud conviction involved $5.7 million in mortgage funds from customers. Kurzenberger also spent roughly $162,000 of customers’ money at an adult night club in Sauget.
Senior Judge Stephen Limbaugh Jr. sentenced Kurzenberger, 37, of Ballwin, to six years on one felony count of mail fraud, and ordered him to pay $5.7 million in restitution.
