Indianapolis-based WellPoint, Inc. said that it was named one of the top 30 companies for executive women by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE). This is the seventh consecutive year WellPoint has been named a leading national company for executive women.

WellPoint utilizes an innovative succession planning process through which the company creates a focus on developing leadership talent across the enterprise. WellPoint’s succession planning process is one of the ways WellPoint facilitates talent sharing and associate development throughout the company.
WellPoint was also named by Working Mother Magazine as one of its 2005 Best Companies for Women of Color as a further indication of its commitment to gender and diversity issues.
To be named to the NAFE Top 30 Companies for Executive Women, companies with a minimum of two women on the board completed a comprehensive application that focused on the number of women in senior ranks (compared to men and to the company population), including questions about the programs and policies which support women’s advancement.
