Minnesota Insurance Commissioner Glenn Wilson recently announced that Manny Munson-Regala has been named deputy commissioner and will lead the Market Assurance Division at the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Munson-Regala began his new position on Jan. 21, 2008.
Munson-Regala brings to the Commerce Department 20 years of experience in the insurance industry working in regulatory affairs and government relations. He was director of Legal, Regulatory and Government Affairs at United Health Group, a position he has held since 2006.
Previously, he served as a claim attorney for State Farm Fire and Casualty and corporate counsel and assistant vice president of Government Affairs for St. Paul Cos. He also created the regulatory and government affairs functions for two St. Paul Companies’ subsidiaries and spin-offs.
The Market Assurance Division includes the department’s investigation, securities registration, and insurance policy analysis units. Regulated industries include insurance, real estate, securities, collection agencies and notaries.
