A Des Moines-based insurance company has announced it will eliminate 60 jobs as part of the company’s business plan.
Officials with American Enterprise Group Inc. said that 51 of the layoffs will come from Des Moines and nine will come from Omaha, Neb. One-third of the layoffs will come from the company’s insurance sales division.
Spokeswoman Mary Durand says the layoffs are not tied to plans to merge with West Des Moines-based Homesteaders Life Co. She says the merger would not result in layoffs because the two companies would not integrate operations.
American Enterprise has about 950 employees, including about 550 in Des Moines.
