A Minneapolis, Minn., man has been sentenced to nine years for a shotgun robbery attempt at an insurance in Roseville last December.
The complaint says 41-year-old Michael Kevin Jones walked into an office building, pointed a sawed-off shotgun at an insurance agency employee and demanded money.
That triggered a lockdown of offices in the building, neighboring businesses, a day-care center and an elementary school.
Jones was arrested outside the building without getting any money. No one was hurt.
But Roseville police Detective Marc Schultz says the incident cost thousands in taxpayer dollars.
Jones pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Judge Gary Bastian gave Jones a nine-year sentence for the robbery and a concurrent five years on the firearm charge.
