State Farm Insurance plans to open a retail storefront in Chicago this summer where it apparently doesn’t plan to sell anything.
The Bloomington-based insurer says it plans use it the location in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood as a way to reach young adult potential customers with free services including financial advice, coffee and Wi-Fi.
State Farm spokeswoman Missy Lundberg told the Pantagraph newspaper in Bloomington that the store will be called State Farm Next Door.
Lundberg says the location is something new for State Farm. Its agents traditionally have storefront offices but the company otherwise does not.
The store is scheduled to open on Aug. 1.
