A northern Illinois cheese company is voluntarily recalling some of its mozzarella products because of possible antibiotic contamination.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says the Walnut Cheese Company in Walnut, doing business as Avanti Foods, is recalling certain products manufactured on Apr. 21.
The department said a routine review at the cheese plant indicated one load of raw milk was not properly tested.
The affected products are bulk string cheese, 8-ounce string cheese packages and bulk shredded mozzarella.
The department and company officials say they have not received reports of adverse reactions from consumers.
The products were sold at various grocery stores, pizzerias and convenience stores across Illinois.
Walnut is located about 80 miles south of Rockford.
