Jack Messmore will serve as acting director of the Illinois Department of Insurance.
He currently serves as chief deputy director of the department, and has worked for the regulatory agency for 25 years.
Messmore takes the job after the departure of former director Michael McRaith. McRaith is becoming the first director of the United States Federal Insurance Office.
He takes the new office today.
