South Dakota flood victims have been given more time to file flood insurance claims.
Policyholders typically have 60 days to file a claim after suffering damage. Officials with the National Flood Insurance Program say South Dakotans along the Missouri River who had flood insurance and damage now have another 30 days to file. With two earlier extensions, the time frame is now 180 days.
That means South Dakota flood victims have about six months from the day they first suffered damage to file their claims, going back to June 1.
