First Nonprofit Names White President, CEO; Warth to Head Mutual Insurers

December 12, 2011

First Nonprofit Insurance Co. (FNIC), headquartered in Chicago, announced organizational changes.

Philip Warth, chief executive officer of FNIC, is now chairman and chief executive officer of Mutual Insurers Holding Co., parent company to FNIC. Robert White succeeds Warth in the role of president and chief executive officer of First Nonprofit Insurance Co. In addition, David Turner has been appointed executive vice president of FNIC.

White and Turner assume their new responsibilities effective Jan. 1, 2012.

Warth has served as president and chief executive officer of First Nonprofit since 1992. Under his leadership, the company evolved from a single-state risk pooling trust to an A.M. Best-rated property and casualty company providing commercial coverages and financial services to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit marketplace across 26 states.

Warth also oversaw the expansion of the First Nonprofit family of companies — among them First Nonprofit Cos., a nationwide alternative unemployment tax solution for nonprofits; First Nonprofit Insurance Agency, a wholly owned brokerage offering property and casualty, life, health, and accident; and Human Services Co., a wholly owned subsidiary providing program administration and financial consulting services to nonprofits.

Today, First Nonprofit Insurance Co. insures more than 2,000 charitable social service agencies.

In his new role, Warth serves as a continued adviser and counselor to First Nonprofit. He is also responsible for oversight of the company’s investment programs and for its strategic partnerships and relationships.

White joined First Nonprofit in 2009 as vice president of brokerage services and was subsequently promoted to senior vice president and chief of staff. Prior to joining FNIC, White served as chief executive officer of Alliance Mutual Insurance Co.

Turner brings 35 years of insurance and real estate experience to First Nonprofit. He will report to White and be responsible for providing oversight to a broad spectrum of functions including underwriting, risk management, claims, and FNIC’s brokerage arm. Most recently, Turner served as senior vice president of global risk management at Prologis, a leading global provider of industrial real estate. He has worldwide experience in real estate risk management, the development of extensive reinsurance programs, and the creation of captive insurance companies.
