A Wisconsin business owner is charged in federal court with torching his business and offering to kill someone’s wife in payment for helping set the fire.
Prosecutors accuse 32-year-old Mathew Lemberger of Denmark of scheming to collect on a $1.4 million insurance policy on the business.
According to the indictment, Lemberger mailed a claim on the December 2010 fire to his insurance company.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reported that Lemberger is charged with arson, mail fraud and murder for hire
The complaint said he worked with two other people to burn the business and then offered to kill the wife of one of those alleged helpers as payment.
Lemberger’s attorney, Robin Shellow of Milwaukee, said her client intends to plead not guilty.
