North Dakota’s congressional delegation is urging President Barack Obama to approve Gov. Jack Dalrymple’s request for a disaster declaration for 16 counties and the Spirit Lake Reservation.
Dalrymple made the request last week. If approved, the disaster declaration would make federal funding available to help with recovery from spring flooding in the Red River, Souris River and Devils Lake basins.
Sens. John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp and Rep. Kevin Cramer say state and local governments need federal help to deal with the impacts of the flooding.
