The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is warning Hoosier motorists that someone is making inappropriate phone solicitations regarding insurance rates:
BMV Commissioner R. Scott Waddell said that his office learned motorists are receiving calls from an outside organization claiming to be the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and offering to reduce their auto insurance rates.
Waddell says the BMV will never contact its customers about insurance rates.
The BMV says the calls is question came from the following phone number: 765-733-1023. When The Associated Press called that number seeking comment, a woman answering the call hung up in mid-conversation.
