The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued safety citations against two southwest Ohio companies after the deaths of workers.
OSHA’s area director in Cincinnati said this week that Central Ready Mix LLC was cited for 10 alleged safety violations after a worker was fatally injured Aug. 6 in a fly-ash silo at the Middletown gravel company. Cheney Pulp and Paper Co. in Franklin was cited for two alleged violations after a worker was fatally injured July 23 at the paper mill by an overhead machine.
Proposed fines total $55,800 for Central Ready Mix and $77,000 for Cheney Pulp. They have 15 days to contest the citations and penalties.
A message was left at the Franklin company on Nov. 30. There was no answer to calls to the Middletown company.
