Keystone Insurers Group, based in Northumberland, Pa., announced the addition of two more independent insurance agencies in Illinois to its expanding franchise business. Resource Insurance of DeKalb and Pufalt-Pauley Insurance of Belleville bring the total number of franchise partners in the state to 14.
Formed in 1988 when Resource Bank purchased the Dean Lyman Insurance Agency, Resource Insurance has grown from two to nine employees. The agency is managed by Steve Braser, who joined the firm in 2009 after working 30 years in a family-owned retail shoe business. He is president of both the DeKalb and Hampshire Chambers of Commerce and a two-term alderman in Sycamore.
In 1950 William Pufalt purchased The Voellinger Agency, which had been established in Belleville in 1922. James Pauley joined the agency in 1973; 10 years later the firm’s name was changed to Pufalt-Pauley Insurance Agency, and today Pauley is its owner. His brother, Dan, and daughter, Lisa, are among the agency’s 11 employees.
