Jeff Harrold, chairman and chief executive officer of Lansing, Michigan-based Auto-Owners Insurance Co. and its affiliates, is retiring effective Dec. 31, 2017, the company announced.
He has been with the company for more than 40 years.
Harrold will be succeeded by Jeffrey (Jeff) S. Tagsold as chairman and CEO of the company on Jan. 1, 2018. Tagsold currently holds the titles of president and chief operations officer at Auto-Owners. He began working at the company in 1985.
Daniel J. Thelen, currently executive vice president, will become president of Auto-Owners and its affiliates. Carolyn B. Muller, currently senior vice president, Claims, will assume the role of executive vice president.
Thelen has served in numerous capacities since joining the company in 1981. Muller first joined Auto-Owners in 1990 and also has served in a variety of leadership roles throughout her career.
