The Springfield, Missouri, school district has reached a settlement with a longtime secretary who claimed in a lawsuit that the district tried to fire her because of her age.
The Springfield News-Leader reports the district agreed to pay Lynn Neff $116,404 but denied any wrongdoing. The agreement was submitted to a Greene County court, where a trial was scheduled to start Oct. 29.
Neff sued in February 2015, alleging the district tried to fire her because it wanted to hire younger employees. The lawsuit alleged after Neff won an appeal to the school board the district retaliated by shrinking her workspace, giving her an older computer and requiring her to count pencils and sticky notes.
Neff, who is now 62, voluntarily retired in August.
