A current insurance agent in Iowa and a former one have been charged in connection with a fraud investigation in which another agent was previously charged.
Insurance agent Cursta Lena Williams of Davenport, and former insurance agent Whitney Michelle Roth of Clinton, were charged in connection with an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau
Williams was charged with Insurance Fraud – Conspiracy (Class D Felony) and Conspiracy to Commit a Non-forcible Felony (Class D Felony).
Roth was charged with Fraudulent Submission (Class D Felony), Fraudulent Sales Practices (Class D Felony), Conspiracy to Commit a Non-forcible Felony (Class D Felony), and two counts of Insurance Fraud – Application Submission (Class D Felony).
Arrest warrants were issued for Williams and Roth on May 24, 2019. On May 30, 2019, Williams and Roth turned themselves in to Scott County authorities in response to the outstanding warrants. Both Williams and Roth were released and trials will be set for a future date and time.
Agent Jonathan Adam Schlue was previously charged in connection with the case. He faces four counts of Fraudulent Sales Practices (Class D Felony), two counts of Fraudulent Submissions (Class D Felony), two counts of Conspiracy to Commit a Non-forcible Felony (Class D Felony), one count of Ongoing Criminal Conduct (Class B Felony), and one count of Theft in the Second Degree (Class D Felony),
The fraud charges are related to sale of supplemental health insurance plans.
