August 14, 2019

Director Jillian Froment has added Jennifer Demory, Mark Hamlin and Jessica Schuster to the senior team at the Ohio Department of Insurance. All three bring significant experience to key positions at the department.

Mark Hamlin, policy advisor for emerging products, and Jennifer Demory, market analysis administrator, take the helm of newly created positions to assist in the agency’s oversight duties of Ohio’s rapidly modernizing insurance industry. Jessica Schuster is the department’s new human resources director.

Hamlin is leading a new initiative to ensure that Ohio’s insurance industry – driven by advances in technology and data – finds a regulatory environment flexible enough to support the pace of change while providing the highest-level consumer protections. Hamlin most recently worked at the Department of Commerce and has served more than 20 years in state government.

Demory will focus on the governance of insurance companies’ plans to safeguard company data and consumer information. Her background includes private sector technology experience, and roles at the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Department of Job and Family Services, and Department of Medicaid.

As the department’s human resources director, Schuster has oversight of all human resources functions, such as payroll, benefits, equal employment opportunity, performance management, labor relations, and employee training and development. She has nearly 20 years of experience and most recently served as the human resources director at the Industrial Commission.
