Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced a Cherokee County man has been sentenced to 24 months of probation for insurance fraud.
Chad Ashe, aged 43, pleaded guilty on January 21, 2026, in Cherokee County District Court to one felony count of insurance fraud. Following a car accident, Ashe added collision coverage to his policy and filed a claim falsely stating the date and time of the accident. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced on April 8, 2026, to 24 months of probation and was fined $1,000.
The Kansas Department of Insurance investigated this case which was prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.
