Insurance Is Fun! Declare Grizzled Industry Veterans

October 3, 2004

For the millions of people in the insurance business, work should be fun, says the founders of a new insurance education and entertainment firm. Amrhein & Associates Inc., an insurance education consultancy, and The van Aartrijk Group LLC, a marketing communications firm specializing in insurance and financial services, have announced the formation of Insurance is Fun!

The first foray for Insurance Is Fun! is a retail Web site for insurance professionals—a place where they can take a survey, read a joke, or get stereotypical insurance industry gift products with a fresh, happy message.

The first-ever poll of insurance slogans includes: “Kiss me, I’m all risk”; “Adjusters live in denial”; “Insurance is fun. No really. It is”; and “Bind me, baby!”

“Web site viewers can go to the Web site to vote on their favorite slogans,” said Chris Amrhein, founder of Amrhein & Associates. “In fact, we urge them to stuff the ballot box until they just can’t smile anymore and have to get back to work.”

Explained Amrhein, “The survey on the Web site serves as a thin but clever disguise for pitching products that we think will soon be the hottest thing at industry meetings, golf outings, and water coolers. Hats, tote bags, T-shirts and golf shirts, coffee mugs, beer steins, desktop apparel and pins—buy for others and yourself! There’s no better gift for the insurance pro that has it all. And there’s no more effective way to brace yourself for Monday morning on the front lines in the insurance industry than with snappy new stuff that broadcasts: Insurance Is Fun!”

“After 23 years of watching others work in this crazy business, I say, ‘Take this job and love it!'” said van Aartrijk, who noted that the new Insurance Is Fun! venture aims to cheer up—and cheer on—agency customer service representatives, administrative staff and producers. “Dealing with the public is not always easy or uplifting, but these folks do it every day. We hope Insurance Is Fun! will help them smile wider.”

Amrhein added: “I’ve been at this insurance thing for more than 30 years. And I spend a good deal of time traveling around the country, speaking at trade shows and conferences. Having survived this long, Pete and I are the perfect people to spread the joy and humor—to make insurance fun, because that’s what it is to us. If you’re not having fun, get out now!”
