RLI Marine Teams Up with National Equipment Register to Offer Theft Waiver

December 18, 2007

Peoria, Ill.-based RLI Marine announced today that it has entered into an agreement with National Equipment Register (NER) to help RLI clients reduce the expense associated with construction equipment theft.

RLI contractors’ equipment policyholders may have policy deductibles of up to $10,000 waived if their equipment is registered on the NER HELPtech database, and is then stolen and not recovered.

RLI Marine Vice President and National Inland Marine Director Bill Muir said, “We are proud to partner with NER, national law enforcement agencies, and the construction industry to soften the financial blow resulting from construction equipment theft. With the NER database, the true owners of registered equipment can be established quickly and accurately, and we’re pleased to offer one more way to help our insureds manage the risks and costs of doing business.”

NER’s secure and confidential online registration of contractors’ equipment, including descriptions of construction equipment and serial numbers, is stored in a national database for the use of law enforcement officials. In addition, registrants are given a warning decal to display on each piece of equipment to deter thieves.

RLI is a specialty insurance company serving “niche” or underserved markets.
