Got Innovation? Submit Your Idea to the Entrepreneurial Insurance Awards

September 3, 2010

Innovators get ready. MarketScout has begun its first-ever search for the most creative new product, underwriting application, or tool that helps distribute insurance in a more innovative fashion. With support from Microsoft and The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research, MarketScout will select finalists for its inaugural Entrepreneurial Insurance Awards.

The award aims to identify companies in the insurance industry that have successfully implemented new underwriting, distribution or technology solutions.

This might include ideas for a new distribution model, new exchange concepts, or a new way for consumers to access the insurance market in a more creative and meaningful way, says Richard Kerr, CEO of MarketScout.

Companies can apply for recognition by completing an Entrepreneur’s Dashboard summarizing their successful business application, Kerr adds.

Finalists for Entrepreneurial Insurance Awards will be selected at the Entrepreneurial Insurance Symposium in Dallas, Texas on Sept. 14-15, 2010.

Ideas will be judged by a team of experts from MarketScout, Microsoft and The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. Kerr says the ideas will be examined for both practical implementation and the idea’s overall concept.

Entrepreneurial Insurance Awards will be granted in the following categories:

• Admitted insurance companies

• Excess and surplus lines companies

• Retail agents

• Brokers

• Service providers

• Technology solutions

• Individuals

• Software developers

“We already have a surprising number of applicants,” Kerr says. While the top finalists will be selected at the Entrepreneurial Insurance Symposium in Dallas, the winners will not be named until December 2010.

The deadline to submit ideas for the Entrepreneurial Insurance Awards is Sept. 10. Companies can submit more than one idea. To learn more or to submit an idea to the Entrepreneur’s Dashboard, visit Entrepreneur’s Dashboard.
