I’m very familiar with the Canine Good Citizen program and when I was an underwriter I’d insure any dog that had this designation. The problem was that few pet owners had heard of it. It is terrific that Harford is promoting it – as it is a great underwriting evaluation tool.

I had the AKC Pet Insurance and it was a horrible experience with this deplorable provider. I would never recommend this provider to anyone. I can’t imagine insuring my home or auto with this useless provider. My pet insurance experience was deplorable. When you needed to utlize the illness portion of this policy they denied the claims. I had the most enriched policy and it was useless. I lost my sweet boy and the AKC even denied euthanasia which was deemed medically necessary, they denied 3 hospitalization. The AKC was the worst choice I could have ever made for pet insurance. I thought with the name AKC it was good. It is good for the “GOTCHA” Gimmick. I can only imagine the fine print clauses within a homeowners or auto policy if it is anything like the pet insurance. I have cancelled the AKC Pet Insurance and now with a fabulous provider who is NOT THE AKC and can guarantee I would never insure anything with the AKC affiliation base upon years of pet insurance premiums paid and then actually needing to utlize the plan only to be DENIED!
