This is the mother of all death spirals. We can envision this giant Tsunami descending on DC to envelope all the politicians who voted for this travesty. They should all start packing their bags. As we used to say in the military, they are short timers.

“Obama helpfully pointed out that you could also sign up by phone.” Hannity “tried” to call the number and was told to call back in 42 hours. Is Obama that clueless??? And now we are being told he knew nothing about the disaster of HIS “going down in history” site not working? Just like Benghazi, NSA, Fast & Furious, and on and on. I think we should start calling him Schultz the character from Hogan’s Heroes. Schultz never seemed to know anything either. This is Obama’s legacy – and some legacy it is.

not sure I’d admit publicly to listening to Hannity…the guy’s basically a parrot without an original idea in his overpaid head. And I’m a registered Republican, just sick of all the BS coming out of both sides of the aisle.

Time for a third party, anyone? Maybe the “Kick ‘Em All Out and Hit the Reset Button” party???

Poor Earlene got fired for talking to Hannity and telling him the truth. The supervisor told her to cut him off. Not to worry about Earlene. Hannity is making up her $26,000 salary and his website is full of people wanting to give her a job. I think we will hear more from her in the coming months. Ron, I would hire Earline in a heartbeat if she were to apply. She doesn’t sound like one of those gimmee, gimmee types and is willing to work. If not a CSR, she could at least answer the phone and do file clerk duties. We could always give her proper training to do more as she goes along. I think she is from Florida so I hope she gets a decent job where she lives.

I listened to Hannity yesterday. He got through just fine. Was talking with a low level employee named Altrica (spelling?) and told her she was on the air on his show. She went to a supervisor who eventually instructed her to tell Sean someone would get back to him in 2 business days. Not “call back in 48 hours”. But, keep misinforming us. It’s the Fox News way, after all.

Really nice of Sean to block a phone line for someone who actually does need insurance, by the way. And, then to intimidate a low level employee to boot.

unfortunately, he’s in the same vein as Rachel Maddow, Piers Morgan, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and that idiot who got the tingle up his leg for Obama during the last election. I’m convinced they all sit down together for drinks every night after berating the other side of the aisle. Then they count their money and laugh at all their followers.

I also happened to have that on in the car and heard his call. The phone rep’s name was Earlene. Hannity was very nice to her and polite as the rep was to him. She quoted 42 hours at one point for the system to be back up, reading from a script of what to say to callers. The 42 hours was repeated back to her and she verified it a few times. This was long before consulting a supervisor.
Given that this went over the air to millions, while he may have used 1 phone line keeping it from one other person calling in, it probably kept thousands of others from calling and blocking the lines only to be told call back in 42 hours. Hannity’s call gave out good information for anyone who might have called that number.
There was no misinformation given on the call I heard. I also did not hear intimidation. He repeatedly thanked her for being so nice.

I’m talking about the call placed yesterday, not the one to Ms. Davis. The one yesterday when the Altrica kept saying, “I’m not allowed to give out that information,” when Sean pushed for information about the website. Then, she was going to transfer him to a supervisor but didn’t after talking with someone else who was obviously near her. Hannity was polite but intimidating to her. You could tell the rep talking to him yesterday felt pushed. Altrica said a rep will be calling him in 2 business days. Sean doesn’t believe he will be getting a call back. Why would they, he doesn’t need healthcare, his employer already provides it.

The call with Ms. Davis went differently, I’ll give you that. She had more of a conversation with Sean.

Hannity’s show isn’t doing anyone any good. That is why he is getting bumped by Michael Savage.

42 hours or 2 business days. Isn’t that the same thing? You’re complaining about him blocking a line. How is that any different than the dozens of reporters that went online the first several days to see if it worked.

Hannity’s show does most people good. He tries to expose the truth about what is really going on. More than anyone can say about Obama, MSNBC or any of the major networks. They would not know the truth if it slapped them in the face. They think partial truths is good enough. A partial truth is still a lie!

He even got bumped from talk radio. Hannity’s ratings will still be good as are Fox’s other shows. You could add up the combined rating of MSNBC for a month and not have Hannity’s ratings for one night. In fact, you may be one of the few that tune into that garbage.

Update to this story. Earline was on Hannity today. Her employer called her in the next day and fired her. Would not even let her go back to her locker to clean it out.
Hannity found out about the situation and has taken care of her. He said over again that she did a wonderful job and was very helpful. He let her tell her story. Then he took care of her and her children. He found out how much she made an hour. Talked to his accountant to find out how much he could give her as a gift so she would not have to pay taxes on it. $13,000. He gave her that and also another $13,000 for her children. One year’s salary. Then he asked his listening audience to help find her full time employment in her Florida home town area, listing her skills and asking others to step up with offers. This may turn out to be the best call Earlene has ever taken.

We both stated that we gather our information from all sides of an issue, process that information, fact check, then make a decision. It is called critical thinking. You should actually try it sometime instead of insulting us Independents.

I would have thought you would applaud us for listening to your side.

Why do you blame national issues on Progressive Liberals when there are twice as many Conservatives than Liberals in this country?

If you were a true Independent, you would be outraged at what is going on just like we Conservatives are. You are no different than committed Democrats who have been brainwashed for 5 years.

Just because I believe in moderate approaches to fix our spending, debt and deficit porblems opposite to the Conservative’s “scorched Earth” approach does not mean that I am not outraged. As I have noted, we should vote all incumbents out to send a message that we the people do not like how the government is being run and nobody is safe.

That way, I can hear what both sides are saying, take note, then go fact check. Then, I form my opinion based on the truth and not 8 second sound bites fed to me like red meat to a dog. Admittedly, I can’t catch all of every show every day, but this is who I am typically listening to on the radio. On the way to and from work, I usually listen to NPR as well. I don’t get much of that action, though. I’m only a couple miles away from work.

            Agent,

I do find it funny considering your type of replies that Ron replies to you and not me, it seems to be the going trend. I don’t think Ron or Planet likes being wrong. They clearly reply to many people who insult them as much as myself.

            Moving on:

I was only talking in this case about Fox News as a source. I have never seen them use Fox News as a source quoting a methodology showing they were correct.

I have only seen conclusions drawn through the usage of other sources. This leads me to believe they do not use Fox to compare facts, they use it to compare how “wrong” Fox News is, or use other sources to dismiss Fox.

My issue is when someone does that. Fox as I said is a reliable source, only if used correctly.

“It’s working in the states that embraced it”. Isn’t that because the state is in control of it? The states that didn’t want it have to go to the Federal Government controlled sites. This is what I understood.

The states that chose to open their own ACA exchanges were given very attractive economic incentives by the government to do so. The red states would rather cut their noses off to spite their faces than take one (red) dime from Obama. And that is exactly what they did. That strategy worked as well as the government shutdown to defund the ACA.

If the democrats had allowed the republicans to pass any healthcare plan, the republicans would have.

Republicans didn’t have enough of a majority, as the democrats did in 2008.

Many statehouses changed over to Republican and many Republican governors were elected as well as the US House of Representatives changing over. I also checked see what the premium would be in my income took hit if I no longer had a job and access to company bennies. It was affordable. And even though I am healthy, I would buy it, even in reduced circumstance – even if it was called Palin-care. Of course, most people in insurance would buy insurance for that the keeps them up at night worrying.

Preplexed — that is hard to say until I finalize my 2014 company benefit election for the simple fact our company plans are changing with increased cost sand decreased coverage. Obviously the company plan will still be the way to go — but it is like comparing Whole Foods fuji apples to Trader Joe’s macintosh apples. It’s in the same arena — but there a lot of variables to both.

I do expect the company plan to be phased out — which the ACA may accelerate — but one that was happening anyway even without the ACA.

The company benefit plan of 2000 is gone, gone, gone.

If I was laid off and took the minimum plan, with minimal income, my premium would be $145. If I took the maximum plan, with minimal income, my premium would be $190. And therein is exactly why it why it is called the AFFORDABLE Care Act.

I’ve had the polar opposite experience – before Obamacare I could get a plan with a $500 deductible, 20% co-pay, and prescription drug coverage with a $6 generic & $30 brand-name co-pay effective 11/1/2013 for $160/mo. The exact same plan under Obamacare, effective 1/1/2014, is $305/month. If I bumped up the deductible to $1,000 the prices were around $135 pre- and $275/mo post-Obamacare. Even the $6,350 deductible plans were in the $160 – $200 range, but were $50-$75 before Obamacare.

I am 27 years old, non-tobacco & take one generic prescription every month. If anyone thinks there’s any chance whatsoever that I am going to pay those kinds of premiums for a health insurance plan you’re out of your mind. Oh, and that was WITH a small subsidy. Premiums in my state literally doubled overnight. It took me a week just to get to view the plan/pricing options! I’m going to buy a policy effective before 1/1/2014 or just pay the penalty and whatever care I need out of pocket, it’s cheaper that way.

jw, it has been revealed that the Fed website wouldn’t even accommodate 200 people when it was last minute tested without going down. There had to be several thousand going into the state sites to inquire. Why did this administration award this huge contract to a Canadian company without proper bids? Did we not need the jobs here for this project? I saw a Chinese American businessman on Hannity who creates websites and he said he would be embarrassed to charge more than a couple of million to create this website, test it and make sure it would work and absorb the load. Instead, we have the mother of all bad websites which will cost around $800 million by the time it is fixed or scrapped and re-started.

Democrats are now blaming Republicans for the website disaster saying it was because it wasn’t funded properly. Apparently, $634 Million wasn’t enough to set it up and three years not long enough to make it work. Now, we have a tech “surge” to get it fixed which should cost another $200 Million in all liklihood. Web.com advertises they can set up a website for free if the customer advertises on it. Projecting the complexity of healhcare.gov, they might have charged $2-3 million to do it. We didn’t get much bang for our buck, did we?

When Gov. Mario Cuomo instituted his socialistic healthcare program here in N.Y. that mandated extra coverages without proof of insurability, insurance companies left in droves as they could not operate at a loss. The same will happen with this Obamanation. Insurance companies will fold, hospitals will fold, doctors will leave the profession, and government premiums will increase. Forcing businesses to operate at a loss (like the federal government)will result in disaster.

Why do people still think this will work? If only the sick people sign up, it is not possible. If it was possible, health insurance companies would have been doing it. This article addresses this very well. It’s all about a one payor system and that’s what it was about all along. Once the health insurance industry is dismantled because they can’t make a profit, there is no turning back. Again I say, we are breaking an entire system to accomodate a small percentage. Did not make sense when I said it before and it still does not. Wake up America before you allow this president to destroy our County.

Except for UM/UIM and PIP (no fault), the other coverages are not mandatory. You are not required by the govt to purchase phys dam.

UM/UIM is only there to protect the insured when someone does not follow the law or does not carry enough insurance. Why aren’t people who don’t have cars required to buy UM/UIM or no fault coverage? They could get hit as a pedestrian.

Integrity — your auto leinholder can require auto coverage until the loan is paid. The government requires auto coverage LARGELY because of MEDICAL injuries inflicted on others. Property damage, not so much.

As for the pedestrian being covered by their own UM/UIM, they can also just go to the emergency room and then not pay anything. Which has been the go to solution for those without insurance. So then we all pay.

Tort reform, amend the laws to allow competition across state lines, pre-existing conditions, etc. All that could have been done without spending over $600 Billion for a website that does not work.

Plain and simple, this country can not afford the ultimate cost of Obamacare. Obamacare is a political power grab.

FYI.. Medicaid was suppose to be for the other 20% that can’t afford it. Where is the responsibility for those who can afford it but chose not to buy health insurance? In the Risk management world, it’s called self insurance.

You call Obamacare a power grab; I call the ACA an attempt to bring the U.S. health care system into alignment with other first world countries.

PS: It wasn’t $600 billion. You are confusing the billions spent under Bush with nothing but war and a wrecked economy to show for it.

My mistake, $600 million for the website. $600 Billion is the cost of Obamacare per the CBO, and that is underestimated.

FYI..The US Healthcare SYSTEM is the best in the world, which is why people from the other socialist first world countries come to get specialized care.

The SYSTEM is fine, making it affordable for the majority of people is the challenge. Speaking of a brick wall, I am not saying screw those who cannot afford it. I am saying find another way to provide them with the care they need.

If we give out food stamps for those that qualify, why not provide healthcare stamps for people to get preventative care? It would be cheaper then them going to the ER for a cold.

            Celitica,

Obamacare, does not, bring us in line with other first world countries, and we are not, behind first world countries.

Universal healthcare peaks when it comes to catastrophic payout options.

This is not at all debatable. There are at least equal catastrophic scenarios in alternate countries.

Also, I’m pretty sure Integrity was talking 80% of insured people, compared to 20% who get coverage from medicaid or other areas.

You believe 20% of people don’t get care?

Let me say this to that:

            HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Back on point: 100% of our people get care. Some people go bankrupt on it. But 100% get care.

Our cancer rates / death rates are equal to other countries, so clearly our systems fail equally there.

            Go on to emergency use:

Did you not note the recent death though, for emergencies? Many areas in Canada do not have air helicopters paid for, it is due to the single payer system. We have on the spot, emergency, care.

Go break your neck in Canada, or Europe. See how you are assisted.

When people are sick here the law says you get treated, and the you get a bill. Insurance companies basically pass that bill on to people who are insured, (in conjunction with the hospitals). This is why we can have a law that no one can be denied treatment, and why our system has the most payout of any country. It makes sure it is impossible for anyone to slip through the cracks. One way or the other, you get coverage, whether the government pays, insurance pays, or the hospital passes that cost on.

We do not have a care problem in the U.S. We offer the most comprehensive, and total care. We have an insurance problem. And that’s just fine. 80% of us have insurance covering for better coverage than other countries can ever dream of (hip replacements? No problem! Join problems? NO PROBLEM, PAIN? NO problem! LASER EYE SURGERY? WHY NOT!! You cannot get this done in other countries) and 20% of coverage equal to that of other countries (medicare type coverage, and bills passed on that cause them to go bankrupt).

You are in dire need of ending your foolish commentary, that the big bad corporations are trying to kill people, the big bad dollar is killing people, the big bad capital society is trying to kill people, and the big bad republicans (considering Reagan passed the law that makes it a law to treat people who need care, such an uncaring, wanting everyone to die, republican, darn him!)

            *insert sarcasm*

            Grow up.

Texas…you are correct. Unfortunately, the rest of the story is that Obamacare is actually doing what it was designed to do. It will create such an imbalance that the private health insurance industry will leave. When that happens, the govt will be left to force socialized medicine.

I just pray that the people of this great country will wake up before the next election and vote out the majority of the incumbents. Republicans and Democrats. I’m tired of the back room bribes and deals that take place. McConnell has to go the next time he is up for re-election.

Obama said he was going to transform America. Well he is, for the worse. I want a candidate that wants to transform the govt back to following the constitution.

Good question. If there was any forethought, the govt would require the hospitals to report people to the IRS if they declared they were uninsured.

FFA, I, too was surprised New England let Welker go since he and Brady wore out whoever they played. Now, Brady is struggling finding the go to guys. That, and losing their star tight end to murder charges have probably doomed them for this year. Welker is good, but the Colts seemed to shut him down for the most part. The Chiefs are going to probably ring his bell when they play and they are very well coached.

Libby, I was unaware the Chiefs had played your favorite team. You confuse the very average Washington “Redskins” with the Kansas City Chiefs. I guess it is easy for you to confuse since they both have Indian nick names. Kansas City is still undefeated by the way. Don’t expect me to apologize for Dallas either. They have Jerry Jones as an owner and Jason Garrett as a “coach”. He is one of those Ivy League graduates from Princeton and that tells me everything I need to know about the ownership and the lack of a head coach. Back in the glory years, there is no way a Jimmy Johnson coached team would permit the opponent to score a touchdown with a minute left in the game and with no time outs and go the length of the field. Garrett should be removed from his duties along with the defensive coordinator.

Hey FFA. Ted Nugent would get rid of all the 880,000 non essential government workers, cut all departments and agencies in half, get rid of the job killing EPA, get rid of all the programs that are expensive and duplicative, cut business and individual taxes to promote job creation and install a flat tax with loopholes cut out and the 50% that pay no taxes will have some skin in the game. Obamacare would be repealed and replaced with Healthcare Reform that makes sense and actually works. That sounds a little radical for the fence sitting Independents and Progressive Liberals, but the country would be far better off for it.

          Agent,

Based on your platform for Ted Nugent, we would have increased unemployment (880,000 plus CPAs, tax preparers, tax attorneys, and EPA & IRS employees) and decreased money going into the economy from those who currently do not pay federal income taxes (it is actually 43% now; http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/09/10/infamous-47-percent-not-paying-federal-taxes-now-43-percent/) and more to the government.

I guess they can all go to work in the factories for minimum wage. We can be China in a few years.

In addition, what do you think will happen with wages when there is a large influx of unemployed? I assume you understand how supply and demand works. After that all happens, what happens to the housing maket when we have hundreds of thousands or maybe millions of more homes going into foreclosure when people have to take pay decreases just to keep their jobs?

Can you address each of my concerns with a solution? I am guessing you cannot.

Conservatives always have an easy solution for complex problems because they do not consider unintended consequences or think of others beside themselves.

If the powers would stop funding the illegals, cut back on the govt fraud and waste and stop handing out “goodies” to the masses, like cell phones, there might be enough money left to keep most of their jobs.

Instead of laying them off, how about cutting back on some of the salaries (and I mean on those that are above $75K) and pension perks. You know (or maybe you don’t), tighten the belt like the rest of the Americans have to do from time to time. o you think that might be a start.

I have no problem with any of those suggestions because they would not send as much of a shock through the economy. I am just against any kind of extreme shake up (cutting 880,00 federal employees and instituting a flat tax that would eliminate countless private sector accounting and tax preparation positions as well as IRS employees plus less money from the 43% who rely on deductions to put money into the economy) because of the unintended consequences that may result.

Hey Ron, did you hear about the budget deficit or not? When is it a good thing for a government to spend $1 Trillion more than it takes in? As we just found out about the budget deal, the debt increased over $300 Billion despite the President saying it didn’t increase the debt. The idea is to create private sector jobs, not increase Federal workers who are a drain on our economy. They should get out and get a real job and be productive. Did you not hear about all the new jobs the government said they were creating? Pay no attention that 350,000 file for new unemployment claims each month. Trust me, we will not miss the EPA employees and IRS employees or attorneys of any persuasion since we have far too many of them anyway. CPA’s are smart enough to survive and may actually create a business and use their smarts to hire some people. I would caution them not to hire former government employees, especially the non-essential ones.

I have indicated many times that I realize we have to address our spending, debt and deficits problems. I just do not agree with those approaches due to the consequences I pointed out. We need a reasonable and more gradual approach to decrease spending, reform the tax code, shrink the number of federal employees (attrition), and decrease government pensions and other benefits to be more in line with the private sector. Are you Ok with those solutions or are they too liberal for you?

However, you provided no real solutions. What if all of the CPAs started insurance agencies and started taking away your clients and decrease the pool of potential new clients?

What about wages? You know, supply and demand. That works for labor as well as products and services.

So Ron, it appears that you are in favor of decreased spending only on a more gradual basis. The Sequestor savings of $85 Billion hardly is worth mentioning in a $3.4 Trillion spending spree. It is about half of 1%. The President said the world was falling and banned tours of the White House and made it as painful as possible. We got another dose of his painful policy with the 16 day government shut down. Serious cutting demands serious people and the non existent budget needs a complete overhaul and every program needs scrutiny and every department needs big cuts if we are to get this under control. Why not hire some of those really good CPA’s to do an audit instead of forming yet another committee of politicians to study it an not agree on anything? I have a really good CPA who could identify hundreds of items to cut and make a huge dent in the deficit right away. We keep the CPA’s on the payroll to watch spending like a hawk and then we might not need those 888,000 non-essential workers. I will make you a deal. We put on a thousand good CPA’s and spread them out over all the departments and agencies and let’s see what they can do on budget cuts and analyzing failed programs. Of course, they can’t be Obama supporters or we will never get anywhere.

It is not the agenda that Independents are against, we are against their idea of governing; do nothing then blame the Democrats.

My issue with the current crop of Republicans began with Senator McConnell’s statement, ““The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” I would think the single most important thing they should have wanted to achieve was to fix the economy and help the American people.

My issue with past republicans is their poor fiscal record. See spending, deficit and debt during Republican vs Democratic administrations.

            Ron,

            HAHAHAHA you hypocrite and liar!

I love you Ron, you make it easy.

Presidents don’t make debt, your phrase.

And they don’t. Congress does. 1995-2006 had the first democratic majority in over 40 years in congress. Which means out of the 11 years they were in congress, we had ONE trillion dollar bad year (from tarp) and we had 4 surplus years. Do you realize that’s about 40% of their time in control they cause surpluses? That was NOT Clinton, and you can’t be a hypocrite and suddenly say the surplus was not the republican congresses doing, while saying it can’t be the president’s doing as well, depending on what benefits democrats.

You have to go by laws I might add, not only who was in charge, and who put those laws up. For example: Who pushed the stimulus? Obama. Who pushed the spending on QE and Twist? Obama. Who is the fault of that debt? Obama.

Then you have to look at the revenues: What were the normal years in Bush’s years deficit to gdp? Average. Other than his last year. This means it wasn’t his taxes. Therefore it isn’t the taxes for Obama either.

So what is the problem right now? Spending. And then again, who is pushing up the spending? Obama, QE, Twist, Stimulus, etc.

            Facts are facts.

And then Compare Reagan: Did reagan get his proposed spending cuts? No! Who was in congress? Democrats. Did he get his tax cuts? Yes. Did revenues go down by a significant percentage? Temporarily, yes. Long term HELL NO. Clinton’s revenues, which were still lower than the taxes before Reagan, (meaning that Reagan’s tax cuts were mostly all still in force, but the marginal rates were slightly higher, but still under what they were before Reagan) were at 20% of GDP.

So then, are lower tax rates causing deficits? NO. If anything they helped Clinton.

Then again, back round circle, is Stimulus, QE, and TWIST affecting deficits? Hell to the yes.

You Independents also need to wake up and stop consulting government websites and stop believing the Progressive drivel and go back to the Constitutional Republic that the nation was founded on. The problem is that every political party believe that we need more representatives with whom they identify. We need to just vote against every incumbent, regardless of party affiliation, and send the message that we will hold everyone accountable.

Unfortunately, there are too many people like you who will continue to vote based on party line which is why we saw 90% of incumbents up for re-election in 2012 win.

As I recall Integrity, Obama, Pelosi & Reid were shocked and amazed that this just didn’t sail right through since they had the majority in both houses. They were also shocked to learn that the American People didn’t like it and poll after poll revealed that fact and the folks were letting their representatives know about it. I saw a video of Mary Landreiu in Louisiana at a town hall and they were letting her have it. In the end, she disregarded her constituents and voted for it anyway when Reid did the Louisiana Purchase to give her money to expand Medicaid. By the way, the last count I saw had no one signing up for Obamacare in that state.

I will pay several thousands of dollars a year MORE for higher deductibles and higher out-of-pocket maximums. And the young supposedly subsidize the old, but I don’t see it. My wife and I are in our early sixties but our premium is increasing from about $1100 to $1500 per month; my son’s (mid-twenties) premium is increasing from $75 a month to $250 per month. And I am losing my Health Savings Account so that adds a couple thousand more to the after-tax cost of health care. Overall, about $10,000 per year in additional health care expenses before I get hit with the higher deductibles and higher out-of-pocket maximums.

I liked my health insurance but I cannot keep it. IdiotCare is a tax and spend wealth transfer program. Although I have purchased health insurance every year for decades (I am self-employed) I am thinking of dropping it.

Good job Obama/Pelosi/Reid. What a fitting memorial to the former Senate Buffoon, Ted Kennedy (Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment).

Everyone is already getting healthcare now – in the ER when the issues are very serious and very costly. We are already paying for this! Already paying! The ACA will allow more and better preventive care and save money from costly surgery, dialysis and other procedures for the seriously ill that did not have health insurance. Also, the doctor’s office and urgent care will be much cheaper than the ER (there only current option).
How about getting on board to help make it work in lieu of the never ending complaining and blocking? Now that would be useful.

idk…do you ever stop to listen to what you are saying? Do you really think the COST of surgery, dialysis, etc will go down? The only thing that will go down is the amount of money that the govt will reimburse the providers for. This will lead to the going down of the number of providers that will accept the reduced payment from the govt. This will lead to the quality of providers going down because the quality providers will either get out of the business or charge higher rates that other people are willing to pay.

I agree that the preventative care aspect would relieve the burden on the ER, but the costs are going to rise ultimately.

He said Boehner and the President need to go golfing together and while playing, they can swing some deals just like businessmen do all the time. I can hear Obama now. Hey John, is this 6 footer good? Boehner replies no Mr. President, you have to putt them all out. Obama then throws a tantrum saying he is the President and he has to be given all putts inside of 6 feet. If he shanks a shot and it goes out of bounds, that doesn’t count and he gets it over. Boehner says Mr. President, I will have to add stroke and distance for that shot. Obama then storms off the course and they resume not speaking to one another. Obamacare is a super shank and he wants it not to count. He gets overs and overs and no one holds him accountable for the mess he is making.

Each year taking a bigger bite of Gross Domestic Product. Costs were simply unacceptable to all political parties. Something had to happen, no more ostrich syndrome.

Amazing how our national debt is now larger than the GDP and the White House and Senate Leadership don’t give a crap. They just want to borrow more money.

Do you think if I called all my creditors and said I can’t afford my bills so I want them to lend me more money, that they would actually do it?

Obamacare only adds to the debt!

Chuck said- “The same will happen with this Obamanation. Insurance companies will fold, hospitals will fold, doctors will leave the profession”

You are right Chuck, some this this is happening now. For example, in my area hospitals are laying of employees right and left. The Cleveland Clinic is laying off 3000 employees siting Obamacare reimbursement costs. Trinity Hospital/CHE last week announced layoffs citing ACA costs, Crittenton Hospital has had layoffs twice (180 people)citing Obamacare as one of the reasons, Detroit Medical Center, hiring freeze and no replacements for those who retire, leave or are terminated, Beaumont Medical center considering layoffs but doing reductions now through attrition and a hiring freeze. On and on
My sister, the RN told me the hospital she works for is considering (in addition to layoffs) reductions is medical testing equipment (cat scans and MRI machines) as the reimbursement under Obamacare is poor and not worth the capital purchase, maintenance etc. She said that she thinks that the US might be like Canada, if you need a cat scan or MRI you will have to wait 6 months and maybe die before you find out what is wrong with you. By the way, there are a lot of Canadians who cross the border into Michigan to have their tests done for that reason

Hi Sargeant. Yes, I was criticized some weeks ago on this blog for posting about all the job killing done by this disaster which included a number of large hospitals who were laying off workers. How is healthcare going to improve if the professionals like doctors, nurses, PA’s are no longer in the profession? Can you say rationed care? I have a couple of large hospitals in our area that have also laid off a number of workers. A sick person in the hospital has to have a relative or friend sit with them to make sure the nurses do their jobs and give proper care. When my wife was in the hospital last year after major surgery, the hospital wasn’t even practicing basic hygiene by giving a sponge bath. She is lucky she didn’t get an infection and I let the Hospital Administrator know about it and they started giving it. That is just basic care. No telling what it will be like in the coming months/years.

So nice to hear from you. How was the hot date between you and Sarge?
As far as rationed care, you do not know what you are talking about. All it means is that there is emphasis on quality of care versus purely administrating treatment (consult and diagnosis THEN treat). Moreover, it reinforces and emphasizes certificates of need for health procedure. Have you heard of certificates of need Agent? I think not.

HAHAHAHA!!! That’s a good one…an emphasis on quality care. Is that the new talking point that they are rolling out when someone can’t get approval for a procedure or have to wait 6 months for an MRI?

Our current system already has pre-certification requirements, which is the same thing. In many cases, the insurance companies cost themselves money because they want to follow a certain “protocol” of care. For example, I recently had a knee injury and the protocol was to order an Xray first to make sure there were no broken bones. The doctor (and I) could tell it was a soft tissue problem that needed an MRI. So now the insurance company is paying for both.

Unfortunately, there has been too much fraud from the doctors so the insurance companies have to institute something to try to mitigate the problem.

Only a Progressive Liberal idiot would think the quality of care will be improving under Obamacare. There is already a shortage of doctors, nurses and PA’s in this country, the last I heard was about 60,000. It is due to rise to 90,000 in a few short years when more and more of them leave the profession. INS 102. I googled it. Here it is from http://www.ncls.org.

Certificate of Need (C.O.N.) programs are aimed at restraining health care facility costs and allowing coordinated planning of new services and construction. Laws authorizing such programs are one mechanism by which state governments seek to reduce overall health and medical costs. Many “CON” laws initially were put into effect across the nation as part of the federal “Health Planning Resources Development Act” of 1974. Despite numerous changes in the past 30 years, about 36 states retain some type of CON program, law or agency as of December 2011.

As you can see, you are OFF BASE. The CON pertains to the need and construction of medical facilities and not health procedures.

            Who’s embarassed now?

As to the sign-up problems and length of time estimat4d to fix them, what are people who are being laid off or who are otherwise being forced out of current health insurance plans and told to apply as individuals through the exchanges to do if their insurance runs out before the problems are fixed? It seems a lot of people are going to have a serious gap in their coverage and whether I wonder of the Obamacare people ever thought of that. I also wonder if all these problems aren’t a deliberate attempt to sabotage the exchange system so that Obama can then issue an executive order to impose a single payer plan he wanted, but couldn’t get couldn’t get the law passed with that provision. I also understand that there are real problems at the physician end due to the intrusive paperwork the plan imposes on them with respect to what is considered acceptable levels of treatment.

Well, I’m looking forward to checking it out. What this means for many of us approaching 60 is that we will have access to health insurance and can change jobs or retire. At 60 most of us have a pre-existing condition and we know that insurance companies have looked at us as pariahs. You can whine and complain all you want but America was built with a CAN-DO attitude. The founding fathers were NOT defeatist like the current generation of politicos. When they encountered a problem they rolled up their sleeves and came up with solutions. Today’s whiners embarrass America.

Try reading the history of the nation’s first hospital and WHY it was founded… the following is just a snippet!

The Story of the Creation of the Nation’s First Hospital

Pennsylvania Hospital was founded in 1751 by Dr. Thomas Bond and Benjamin Franklin “to care for the sick-poor and insane who were wandering the streets of Philadelphia.” At the time, Philadelphia was the fastest growing city in the 13 colonies. In 1730, the population numbered 11,500 and had grown to 15,000 by 1750 (the city continued to grow and by 1776, its 40,000 residents made Philadelphia the second largest English-speaking city in the British Empire).

You’re delusional, ins 102. How are you defining public benefits? The simplest answer to the revenue question is population.

Also, if you paid attention to the red/blue voting maps, the majority of the country was red. The blue areas were primarily in the larger cities where, guess what, most of the entitlements are doled out! Not to mention they voted two and three times.

As far as NY is concerned, they have some of the highest tax rates in the country. Its amazing that a village and town that are virtually on top of each other have to have their own public services (like police) instead of sharing these responsibilities. Its no wonder the taxes are so high.

Also, nice quote. It seems like the Dems in power think they are above what is good for the middle class. Why are they refusing to be subject to Obamacare? Its the “do as I say, not as I do” attitude.

The people who rely on the entitlements don’t realize that they are the 21st century slaves.

Unfortunately ACA is not going to die and its not going to be a success. It will limp along as a huge drain on our society. BO will sing praises of its greatness, while people are fined for not having insurance yet do to the problems, they can’t get insurance. And those that do will have “lower” premiums with higher deductibles that more than makes up for the difference. The drain on the economy will grow exponentially and the two sides will grow further and further apart.

We all have our opinions (good or bad) of the last four years under BO’s reign and will never agree. However there is one thing I think we can all agree on. That is that this country is as divided as ever. The center of the issue for both sides is BO. So much for uniting the country.

The problem was not Speaker Boehner’s backbone, it was the right’s strategy to repeal, delay or defund the PPACA this way. It had a near zero chance of working. I honestly believe that if they focused on entitletment and tax reform they could have gained some concessions and improved our debt and deficit problems in the short term. Then they would look more appealing to Independents, gain power, then get rid of the PPACA and implement their own plan for health care reform.

If the Republicans lose more seats in the next election, this should be seen as their biggest error in strategy.

Actually Ron, the reason why Republicans objected to Obamacare was that they knew it was a bad deal for the American people and their constituents wanted them to defund or repeal it. By the way, had the Arrogant One included them in the discussion and accepted some of their ideas, they might have voted for it instead of being told to get on the back of the bus and go along with it. If you want to do research, find the now infamous Blair House meeting where Obama, Pelosi, Reid were facing off with Cantor and other Republicans. Ideas were proposed and promptly dismissed. It was strictly a partisan issue for the Progressive Dream.

There is dishonesty enough on all sides to go around. What no one is admitting is that this plan was designed from the beginning to fail. Of course it will go into an underwriting death spiral, the only question is when. Nancy Pelosi planned all along to have to come out 3 years from now when the insurance companies go broke and say “Gee, we gave it our best shot, but no there is now no alternative to Single Payor and a complete government takeover.”

They screwed it up worse than planned, though. If it fails too soon, the insurance companies may still be a viable option. Especially in peoples memories. If they can just make it last 3 years or more before things fall apart then people will blame the insurance companies worse than the government.

Harry Reid has said that it was only the first step on the road to Single Payor. He should have been put out to pasture to Nevada so he could tend his Pomegranates, but the SEIU rigged the voting machines in the last election when he was running about a 40% approval rating with the folks.

I wonder how many states let them do it in the last election. Perhaps in Ohio where some precincts were 0 votes for Romney. That has never happened in American History.

Obama told us all to just call 1-800-F_UCKYO (1-800-318-2596, yes, it’s the real number, just visit healthcare.gov) and sign up.

Turns out, you need to make an account on Healthcare.gov first, oops.

Also turns out, if you call, a broker can’t assist you or get credit if they had previously assisted you and were unable to enroll due to issues.

Thanks POTUS for the subtle “up-yours” to the brokerage community. We only control about 90% of current health insurance, I’m sure that those greenhorn navigators with a 20 hour crash course can replace our trained, licensed, background checked, E&O carrying, experienced professional broker force.

I have been criticized by the lefty posters for bringing up the past but here I go anayway.

    1. In the 70’s Ted Kennedy supported the formation of HMO’s because he thought they couldn’t work and we would be forced into socialized medicine. He said it could take decades to force us into a government run health care system and all of his successors have pushed for the same thing for over 40 years.

2.Before B. Obama became president, he said on more than one occasion that he wanted a single payor system. He was speaking to reporters and he wasn’t at all shy about what he said.

    3. After B. Obama was elected in 2008 he again said very publicly and on national TV news that his goal was a single payor system.

The hard left are nothing if not persistent. They want socialized medecine in the US and the Ted Cruz’s of the word need to do everything they can to stop it.

But, that’s what we get for President Obama using the Heritage Foundation’s answer to Hillarycare. The Repubs were all for it back in the 90’s. Integrity,
          Food for thought…
Obama campaigned on health care reform in 2008-he was elected and the legislation passed. He was elected by a large margin.

The 2012 election he defended his legislation while the opposing ticket vowed to repeal it. The result? The president wins re-election by a wide margin.

Let us not forget…the ACA was upheld by the Supreme Court. The key vote? That liberal Justice John Roberts who wrote the opinion for the majority!

I echo the sentiments of a Republican that I admire greatly (James Baker). Elections have consequences. If the GOP wants to change or repeal the legislation, it starts by winning the Senate in 2014 and the White House in 2016.

Based on the current Government shutdown and how the public perceives the GOP as well as their current frontrunners for the 2016 nomination, the party will do neither.

The only way the GOP will get to see the White House is on the public tour with people like me.

2012..more lies from Obama + mediocre choice for the repubs + questionable voting (minor, but valid point).

Justice Roberts not only wrote the opinion, he wrote the law (outside of his authority, by the way). Obama and the Dems explicitly stated the mandate was NOT a tax. Roberts upheld the commerce clause but said the law would be okay if it were a tax. So Roberts interpreted it to be a tax and it became law. Why didn’t the Dems correct him and say it was not a tax like they told the American public? Who lied?

I know its hard to remember all the real facts.

Yes, it will be hard to win the senate and white house with idiots like you not seeing the bold face lies and corruption in front of your face. That and 47% of the population enslaved by the govt entitlements that they stand to lose if they elect someone that wants to be more fiscally responsible.

Integrity, when we have Bernanke and his successor keeping the printing presses humming 24/7 and buying $85 Billion in Treasuries per month, it is sure to be a house of cards and you are right, the American dollar will continue to sink and be worth what the currency is in Zimbabwe where they need million dollar notes to buy the necessities. Countries that don’t practice good fiscal policy and monetary policy are doomed to fail. Those that don’t learn from history will keep repeating it and unfortunately, that is where we are in this country. When the debt bill was signed, we added over $300 Billion in new debt despite what the uninformed Ron and his hero said about it not increasing the debt.

As for socialized medicine, the GOP ran the same chargs when Medicare was passed in the 1960’s. What have been the results?

Doctors taking Medicare patients more readily than private insurance, higher quality of care and an administrative cost that is 4% compared to 18%+ percent at a traditional health insurance company.

Insurance 102…forget spelling, get your facts straght. Medicare has grown to be a disaster. It was the original free healthcare backstop intended for the poor. History shows that the govt ran it into the ground. Some doctors have stopped accepting Medicare because the govt only pays a fraction of the actual cost.

History is destined to repeat itself at a much higher cost if Obamacare is not reformed. There are ways to improve the system we had without govt intervention.

As far as Cruz is concerned, at least he is trying to be fiscally responsible. Reid, Pelosi and Obama just want to raise the debt ceiling and spend, spend, spend.

You do not know what you are talking about. My father in law is an internist.

Doctors will take Medicare as on average it will pay on average 85 cents to every dollar that you bill. For private insurance, the amount is closer to 55-65 cents. Doctors are skeptical about accepting Medicaid because unless you run a lean overhead it is almost impossible to make money.

Cruz-financially responsible? His shutdown theatrics cost the economy $100 of billions of dollars of economic activity.

Speaking of facts, where did you pull the $100s of billions of economic activity? All the furloughed workers are getting their backpay. Where was the money not spent? Sounds like you are getting your “facts” from MSNBC or Obama. He throws out BS all the time and blind sheep like you believe him.

As their funding dried up, it affected other businesses (restaurants, bookstores, etc) around these universities that depended on these employees for revenue. The effects would have been more deleterious had the shutdown gone on much longer.

As for other money, think about national monuments and parks. People pay admission to get into these areas and could not visit during the shutdown, and businesses around these areas that depend on these tourists for money were affected as well.

It seems the GOP is running the same playbook that they used in 2012. They are trying to keep many people out of jobs just so two men could lose theirs.

For Chris Christie and Jon Huntsmann, it is time to take back your party.

Deleterious…nice $10 word. How often do you use that one in everyday speech?

Do you want to know what is deleterious? Obama!

He is deleterious to this country and the constitution.

Also, let’s get some facts straight. The national monuments and national parks, the open air ones, are free! Obama SPENT money to purposely close them off to the public. Can you say spoiled brat? That’s like Bud Selig taking all the baseballs away so nobody can play just because he didn’t get his way. Obama would not even allow DC to spend their own money!!

Get your head out of your A$$ and realize who is really causing the most pain to this nation. Say it with me…OBAMA!!

Comrade…you are right. There were serious flaws with the Medicare Part D MANDATORY program even though it included that $2000 “donut hole”. There were major issues with rolling it out and getting people signed up. It was a big give away to the pharmaceutical industry. And the dirty secret is that there is a PENALTY if you do not sign up for it when you are old enough. When you finally do sign up, you are ASSESSED a penalty for not joining on time and your rates are higher. My father received a “WAIVER” from purchasing it because his existing plan exceeded the minimum requirements of the Medicare Part D MANDATES.. Maybe if more details and truths were shared by an informed media the populace would benefit. As long as people spread hate and misinformation, our country will continue to tear itself apart. We are Americans first and foremost and believe in the American CAN-DO attitude.

Ah no it isn’t. While I believe as most Americans do that all of us should have health care I do not believe it should be at the expense of others. My new insurance plan is going to have maternity coverage; why? To cover those less fortunate than I. Not only did I have my tubes tied over 15 years ago – I’m in menopause. And by adding maternity and also in vitro – just in case at the age of 56 I do decide I’d like to have a baby (I so think not) my premium is going to skyrocket. One plan does not fit all but that’s what the ACA imposed on all of us and oh, yes every male in country as well is also going to have maternity coverage whether he needs it or not. We have Medicaid for the less unfortunate, which is SO abused. Women as young as 14 are getting pregnant just to get on medicaid and welfare and the cycle keeps on going on and on. They are slaves to the government and they don’t even know it and they are given a place to live as well. And who pays for all of this? If all the young healthy 20 year olds decide to pay the fine instead of sign up for the ACA, what do you suppose that is going to do to the premiums of us 50+ year olds? That’s right – we are already paying a heck of lot more then the 20 years olds and it’s only going to drive that premium up more. This whole thing is a disaster and I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride. The ACA – Obama built that.

Always, this worked this time. Jon Stewart at times is very hilarious. He is a committed liberal, but even he has thrown up his hands and pointing out how bad this law and website is. I really liked the end when the Pacman was trying to eat the consumer stuck in the hard drive. Did you see his interview with the now infamous Sebelius last week? He was really letting her have it and I am sure she wished she did not make the appearance. I think she thought he would soft pedal and not ask her tough questions since they have gotten a pass from liberal media for the past 5 years.

Hi Agent, I did see Sebelius last week on the Daily Show and Jon did let her have it. He’s a pretty funny guy and a pretty smart at that. This piece on the glitches was SO very funny and very true. I don’t think my liberal friends found it to be very humorous though. And now the Democrats want to push out the enrollment date which is exactly what the Republicans wanted to do in the first place. I say, let them sink like a stone. Obama hires a Canadian company that was fired for not being able to deliver in the past on a project they had what did he expect? And now they have a “surge” of IT experts trying to fix it. Why didn’t they hire these so called experts in the first place from an American company? I also heard the CEO of McAfee was offered the job to fix it and he turned it down because he said it was unfixable and I would think he would know what he’s talking about. Obama’s legacy and popularity are both going right down the hopper. I hate to say “we told you so” but we told you so. The Republicans should just all sit back and enjoy the ride.

Always, It is too bad Republicans cannot just sit back and enjoy the ride because so many are losing their healhcare insurance because of this tragedy. CBS, hardly a bastion of Conservatism just released the following information on the enrollments. Liberals keep touting the State Exchanges and info was gathered by CBS on how that it was working out. In the State of Washington, 35,000 enrolled and 87% was in Medicaid. In Kentucky, 26,000 enrolled with 82% for Medicaid. In NY, 37,000 enrolled with 64% in Medicaid. Should we now be calling this program Obamacaid? Why didn’t they call this what it is turning out to be which is expanding Medicaid? This is all going to be pushed onto the state budgets unless it is heavily subsidized.

Obamacaid – I think you’re on to something there, my friend. You know this is all going to bubble up to the top and we’re going to be in exactly the same shape as Greece. Seems to me that this whole ACA WAS to make the USA bigger nanny state than it already is and get as many people who are citizens and illegal’s signed up and as quickly (have to chuckle a little here) as possible. The private markets are supposed to be opening up in January so we’ll all be able to shop those too instead of just the plans on the ACA website. I wonder how competitive they’ll be but they’ll for sure be more expensive than what we were paying before because of all the “extra” benefits that have been implemented and that’s what chaps my mule the most. Maternity should be an option on all plans. I should not have to pay for something that I’m never going to use. You would think that would be illegal.

Always, the only coverage that appears to be illegal is the current policies in effect that most people liked. Hundreds of thousands are receiving their cancellation notices in the mail so they will have to go on Obamacare or Medicaid in the one size fits all model. I wonder what all those liberal people that voted for Hope & Change think about getting their coverage cancelled. I guess they can always blame Bush and the insurance companies that are greedy and don’t want to cover them anymore.

If you were grandfathered in on your plan you can keep it. Anyone who had a plan in place before March of 2010 can keep their plan. If not, well then you loose it. OR, if your plan does not meet the ACA requirements your plan can and will be dropped and you’ll have to choose another. As with so many who had BCBS. One of my friends, who voted for O, just got this very letter, but she’s excited because she’ll be able to get a subsidy. I did warn her that her prescription drug program is going to have a huge deductible as will her medical coverage deductible. So, she wasn’t so excited to hear about that being the case.

Unfortunately, the companies are following the law as it was written by the Progressive mob in charge. Regarding Palin you forgot: quitter, weak, uninformed, uneducated, divisive, greedy, selfish, self-promoting, narcissistic, manipulative, vindictive, and hypocritical. But, most importantly, the single biggest reason President Obama beat Senator McCain leading to the PPACA. If you think otherwise you are politically clueless.

I fire my wife. File Married Separately. She would get max subsidy being below the poverty line. Then I load up the deductions on my tax return thereby maximizing my premiums subsidy….

Does anyone have any insight as to if this would work or not? I thought I was once told as soon as we file Joint, we cant go back.

You may want to consult with a good tax attorney before trying something that will get you in trouble. I am not sure that tax attornies or CPA’s know the ramifications of tax subsidies or deductions because the law is so convoluted.

I got another letter from the IRS telling me that they have not reached a final decision on my 2011 issue. I should have their ruling by 12/15/2013… Third such letter from them. First one stated they would have their final decision by 8/31/2013. Accountant states it indicates they are trying to disprove me and cant. Just buying more time for something else to magically materialize… My dad, a State Farm agent for 35 years , got blasted like I am. after he went 3 for 3 with them, they never contacted him again. I do not criticize you for having Conservative beliefs, I just do not agree with all of the positions of the Conservative Party (anti-gay marriage without any non-religious reason(s), anti-abortion laws (I am personally against abortion, but think it is more important to let women make their own health care decisions than me forcing my morals upon them), unnecessary voter ID laws (not enough proof of real voter fraud that justifies the amount of money spent on passing the laws then defending them in court), unlimited campaign funding from private citizens, unions or corporations(we need less private money from small groups or individuals that could impact policy).

We would have more Conservatives if they focused their energy on the economy and stop pushing their social agenda. It would also help if we had better fiscal results when they have power.

See government spending, money supply and debt to GDP trends during President Reagan’s term.

Ron, I didn’t know we had a Conservative Party in this country, just Conservatives who have a different belief than Progressives. We should have a Conservative Party who wants the Constitution adhered to and against all the liberal solutions of bigger and bigger government which has made such a mess and ruined our economy and been so divisive. They have the attitude of its our way or the highway. Conservatives are smart enough to know that you don’t do the same failed things over and over and hope for a different result. By the way, Conservatives aren’t the ones focusing their energy on social issues. That is the Progressive bunch that does that. We should be spending our time unwinding all the bad fiscal policy, reforming the tax code, developing our industry and energy, creating jobs (not government jobs)and letting Obamacare implode as it is doing daily and then starting over with one that has common sense solutions instead of the one size fits all scheme that is causing so much destruction in the healthcare field.

Even Forbes, a far cry from a liberal media source, admits that the government shrank, not grown, during President Obama’s Administration. He is also the only President since and including President Reagan that shows a net decrease in government employees and decreased government spending.

            http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikepatton/2013/01/24/the-growth-of-the-federal-government-1980-to-2012/

I know that there are factors out of a President’s control that impact these numbers, but the fact is, based on the change in the size of government and government sending, President Obama has been the most conservative since and including President Reagan.

We first need a message in order to get it out. Our problems will never be solved until medical insurance is no longer purchased by the employer, or healthcare services provided by the government. It’s that disconnect that infuses all of the additional expense in the plans, that and government intrusion with unfunded mandates to cover routine maintenance expenses that are uninsurable to begin with, like birth control and other elctive expenses now mandated as “coverage”. There was a book written in 2007 by Harvard Professor Regina E. Herzlinger. Known as the “Godmother” of consumer-driven health care, she lays out a very cogent case for individual coverage, purchased the same way everyone buys auto insurance. The book is titled “Who Killed Healthcare – America’s $2 Trillion Medical Problem – and the Consumer-driven Cure”. It’s available on Amazon. Ever person reading this thread ought to get a copy, read it, understand it and promote it as the only viable alternative to Obamacare, which does nothing to address the problems tha exist, only puts a gun to people’s and employer’s heads to comply, and taxes granny’s walker and pacemeker and fido’s pet treats, and cuts $716 Billion from Medicare Advantage to help pay for this debacle.

As long as the solution is not a single payor government system. Government has no business in the healthcare business since they are inherently corrupt, inefficient and never produce workable solutions that are affordable. This debacle is the prime example.

Time for the GOP to realize that there was an election held, and their party lost. Unfortunately, a minority within their own party wants to hold the nation hostage.

With the election results, it is time to realize that the country elected for Obama once. Didn’t he run on healthcare reform? For his re-election, his opponent and the GOP ran against his health care bill while offering no alternative. The result? The President wins re-election, his party holds control of the Senate and gains seats in the House.

If the GOP wants to hold another referendum, that is o.k. Obama would be elected again. The only credible candidate who would stand a chance against him would be run out of the leadership in early voting (Chris Christie). Democrats, like myself, can thank Republicans on this site as those who would put forth an unelectable candidate like Cruz, Paul or Scott Walker to the general public.
Moreover, the public has a stronger disdain for the bellicose tactics of Congress versus the President. If an election were held today, the Dems would hold the White House, the Senate and would stand a 50/50 shot of regaining the House.

The GOP should learn from liberal and conservative parties from other countries. Please modernize your policies so they appeal to a large section of the populace. Bill Clinton and Tony Blair did this for left of center parties. David Cameron and Angela Merkel did this for right of center paries.

This is just food for thought.

Libby, Ron & 102 have been in one of those Rip Van Winkle snoozes and it is impossible to wake them up. Every day Americans are now being awakened and realize they have been lied to big time about this travesty. How is that Hope & Change working out for us?

FFA, Isn’t it amazing how these so called Independents keep blaming the GOP for this Democrat mess? When has Ron posted outrage on what Obama has done to this country? At best, he is a milk toast moderate who needs a website to do his thinking. He tries to label me as a Republican and put blame on for their inaction on this issue and criticize Republicans for trying to repeal or defund Obamacare. They weren’t in charge when this was passed on a strictly partisan basis and they knew how bad it was for America. They should take this issue and run with it all the way to the mid terms in 14. People are going to be so mad by then, there will be a real house cleaning. I hope the RINO’s like McConnell, Graham & Boehner will also be shown the door and replaced by Conservatives that will take action. A switch in the Senate is very possible since 1/3 are up for re-election. The imbecile Reid needs to be sent to the back of the room like Pelosi was in 2010 so they can’t do any more damage.

Agent – Republicans had a majority from 1995 through 2007 and they did NOTHING, bupkiss about Healthcare reform. Then when someone DID do something (albeit not the best plan ever put together) they did everything they could to derail it.

That’s what people are mad about. The majority of Americans wanted Healthcare reform. The Republicans had no intention of doing anything about it and actually did everything they could to thwart it.

If you could find me a Conservative to vote for that would keep Congress out of my bedroom, marriage, and vagina I would have no problem voting for them. Can you name one???

You are right FFA. We have seen all the horror stories about the British and Canadian system which had rationed care, long wait times and how many of their citizens come to the US for treatment because they can’t get it there. The question is, where are they going to go for treatment when we have full rationed care here. I suppose there will still be care given to people of means, but the average Joe’s will be out of luck. I envision care will be at doc in the boxes by Nurse Practitioners or PA’s with few doctors in evidence. Get in line and hope for a break.

    Agent and FFA,
While you bring up the Canadian health care system vis-a-vis the American health care system, here is some food for thought:

a)Although there is a single payer health care system, why is life expectancy higher in Canada vs. the U.S.?
    b) Why are prescription drugs a fraction of costs for Canadians vis-a-vis the US? So much, that some residents from my state of New York head to Canada to buy their prescriptions.
    c) Why is health care at 4% of GDP in Canada vs. 19% of GDP (and growing) in the US?

The last is especially deleterious as because of health care costs companies will take jobs to Canada vs. the US. For example, there are more American cars made in Ottawa vs. Detroit. I’d love to have those jobs back in the USA.

As for doctors, foreign doctors will fill the void. After Medicare passed, foreign doctors filled the need for primary care positions in underserved areas as well as specialist and surgical positions (primarily general surgery).

I can see why Agent might have a problem of this because of his strong xenophobic beliefs.

      c)Less Population???

      FFA,

By killing more jobs do you mean more employed persons, less umployed persons, and a lower unemployment rate now compared to when he took office? I am sure some (Agent) will say the numbers are cooked up, but this is NOT a government website and uses the same methodology throughout history. Just look at the number of umeployed persons and the umeployment rate during President George W Bush. There is one example.

      http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-states/employed-persons

I will not completely defend President Obama, but I believe the Republicans and Tea Party have also played a significant role in the current divide.

I have great difficulty thinking that part of the divide has something, not everything, to do with our first President with African heritage. Those who say it has nothing to do with it are as naive as those you think it has everything to do with it.

It is nice, though I question the sincerity, that you were willing to give him a chance. Too bad those that actually matter, elected Republicans, were not so generous. They were out to get him from the beginning and, typical of the current Republicans, they failed.

Are you implying that I am a racist because I believe there is still racism in this country?

He never had a chance from the time Senator McConnell made the statement, “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” That was the beginning of the divide.

You misinterpreted my point. All I said was that part of the divide has to do with people who cannot accept the fact that our President has African heritage. I understand that many people, probably more, do not like him due to his policies. But to think race has nothing to do with the current divide is absolutely naive.

In my opinion, for every person who voted for him because of his race, I believe at least as many voted for his opponent because of his race. Neither is right to vote for or against someone for that reason.

That is net jobs, not the unemployment rate or jobs added. Please tell me again how this is a job killer.

If they need a subsidy, I think they will have to go through the exchange. I would gather their names and tell them you will call them as soon as it is up and running, but as of today there is nothing you can do other than look outside the exchange.

Libby, these are individual HSA accounts that OBama stated “You will be able to keep what you have” in his big sales pitch.

I have BCBS and Humana. The Blue Cross site is redirecting to – yes you guess it – the Healthcare.gov site. There is also something wrong in the Humana site that will only allow me to quote certain counties – none in my area. Hell, I cant even get into DeKalb where I have a natural market at the College with my connection into NIU.

we are way past sales 101. I have the info sheets filled out and people are calling me and getting upset with me because of the Govt Web Site. They are starting to personalize it against me.

I do appreciate all the assistance you folks give me.

Just because I’m a glutton for punishment, I googled HSA. You may want to do that, too. According to the Department of the Treasury, HSAs are still allowed in 2014. There were links to companies providing HSAs, too.

I have a legal document in front of me right now that proves she is a liar. This clients premiums is going up more then 2X. That is not something made up. It is a fact in a legal document.

Not only am I not going to recoup my expense, but I am going to lose revenue. I was coming to that reality yesterday. As you can tell, most of my post had a very angry tone.

I was watching the congressional hearing this Am on WGN News. They asked Sebeliuos why people cant keep what they have. she responded they can. I have this non renewal sitting on my desk…. They are all just a bunch of liars… That would be the one class of people that I am very prejudice against – LIARS.

Then Ryan brought up the subject of the young folks not getting subsidy…

            I am going back to what I do best – P & C…

I am heading to a small town called Jeffersonville Indiana in the next week or two. Is that your neck of the woods???

FFA – Check out this website. It explains the changes in HSA’s with Obamacare. The deductible limit has been lowered. That is why you’re getting non-renewals. Have you called the current carrier to ask them what plans they have that might be available for your clients? Have you asked them if they will renew the existing plan early in 2013 so they can keep their coverage? Just some suggestions. And you could never be snarky. Just a little snippy. I understand.

FFA, if we as agents are dependent of Health Insurance income to make a go of it, we will hasten our demise. Healthcare.gov is the straw that broke the camel’s back for agents and making any kind of living off healthcare commissions. We have enough income from P&C to do well and our Blue Cross commisions are just a little gravy. When that goes away, we will just have to write more P&C to do well. I feel for a fellow agent friend of mine who is heavily invested in Group and Individual. He has been tearing his hair out for three years and it only gets worse.

Ron brought up the issue of racism to me and is trying to say criticism of his President as if it is racially motivated. McConnell’s reference to making him a one term President had everything to do with a Progressive Socialist agenda and nothing to do with race. I am sorry we hurt yours and Ron’s feelings. Are you that desperate to defend this agenda that you lash out at anything Conservatives say no matter what?

I don’t need Agent, Ron, Bob or anyone else to defend me. I am my own man. To play the blame game is pointless – This is OBamas Baby. It is his sole responsibility for the short comings – his credit for the success. Anyone blaming Anti oBamaism on race is a fool. He is plain and simple incompetent. He has no clue on what should be the top priority. Shifting his focus to pardon criminals over getting this debacle fixed proves he just don’t care about the average Joe…

What I need is for OBama to get this fixed or scrap it all together. I need him to stop fucking with my ability to keep a roof over 7 peoples head. My daughter was on pace to move out in Feb. Now because of OBama Care, its just not possible with her reductions in hours at work due to OBama Care. At this point, they are lucky to keep the doors open.

FFA, Liberals are very good at playing the blame game. Everything bad that happens is somehow the Republicans and Conservatives fault. We musn’t ever criticize the man or we will be Racists. We musn’t ever criticize the mindless minions for screwing up the country and trying to install Socialism in a free country or we will be called extremists. If GW had tried to do the things these people have been doing, he would have been impeached in 2010. However, calling for Impeachment of this President is considered being Racists. Ron unsuccessfully introduced the race card and showed his true colors.

            Agent,

All you ever do is blame Democrats, Liberals, Socialists and Progressives for all of our ills as a country. Please list all of the things Conservatives and/or republicans have done, not just talked about, to fix our problems, without blaming anyone else.

Please define Socialism then list everything that has happened during President Obama’s term that has made us Socialist.

I never said President Obama cannot be criticized, I have criticized him myself. The point I was making is that part, not all, of the division in the current political climate is based on his race and that racism still exists in this country. Can you dispute that?

If there is sufficient grounds for which President Obama should be impeached, then he should be regardless of possible backlash. The problem is that the House Republicans are too busy trying to repeal, defund, delay the PPACA, which has ZERO chance of happening in the current political environment, to actually put together the Articles of Impeachment. Either that or they do not have sufficient grounds. Based on how they have criticized President Obama in the past and continue to do so, I do not think they really fear being called racists.

Do you think supplying arms and aid to affiliates of Al Quida in Syria or to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt was serious enough. America is their enemy by the way. Those people want to cut off our head as they did to Daniel Pearl in Afghanistan.

I don’t dispute that there are racists in this country, but you ascribe objections to this President as being racially motivated. It is his policies and agenda man. Wake up. Look at his background and then try to dispute that he is not a Socialist. He is Progressive Socialism personified. That is why the country is so messed up right now. It sure isn’t because of Conservative policies, I can assure you of that.

Say FFA, did you see or hear Carney’s news conference today? He said it was the insurance industry’s fault that people were losing their health coverage. He said the law (Obamacare) could not order the companies to not cancel the coverage people liked. Hmm! He is digging a deeper hole every time he steps up to the podium. Guess what, Obamacare mandates that they must cancel the coverage if it does not fit the one size fits all coverage. All the companies are doing is following the dictates of the law. If they don’t, they are breaking the law and penalties will be imposed. If the President really meant it that if you like your plan and doctor you can keep it, then he wouldn’t have signed the law that does not permit people to keep the plan they liked PERIOD.

he is such a weasel, he can not take responsibility for what he has done. Then he has to shift focus on to another issues of people being here criminally and pardon them. Who is he going to pardon next? Thieves (Madoff)?

If he was any kind of a man, he would take a page out of Reagans play book in the Iran Contra Scandal “The Buck Stops Here.”

My Natural Market at NIU is off the table. Apparently somewhere in the law it states that if you are under 26 and eligible to stay on your parents policy, you are not eligible for subsidy.

So, how many under 26 that is supposed to support the older less healthy crowd is going to sign up for this?

Congress man Ryan pointed this out to an OBama Flunkie testifying in front of congress. He was wondering why this disclosure is not being made on the Web site indicating this is miss-leading to the younger crowd.

FFA, This administration has said over and over that they need the young crowd to enroll to help pay for the older, sicker population in order for this to work. Tell me, if you were under 26 and on your parents policy, why would you sign up when Mom & Dad are footing the bill? Many of these gen 20’s people, recently graduated and can’t find a job, failure to launch are not going to sign up for anything. They don’t even have the $95 fine/tax money. Is the IRS going to come after them for tax evasion?
