We can import from around the world, all the fruits, & vegetables that we need. We do not need to continue to drain the remaining California aquifers to make the desert bloom! What a nonsensical column title…”Climate Control.”

Hey Jack, did you see the story on Foxnews.com about the Colorado businessman who moved his operation from Denver to Myrtle Beach SC because his workers kept coming to work high from smoking weed and their work and production fell off. 47 employees lost their job and he will hire in SC where pot is still illegal. People on this blog say it doesn’t hurt anything, still ok to drive under the influence and they believe it doesn’t affect job performance. Sorry, it does and I don’t blame the guy for leaving. He has a business to run and he needs people to be clear headed and productive.

“But Brawner told FoxNews.com Friday his comments got “twisted out of proportion,” although he did not deny relocating to the Myrtle Beach area, where smoking pot is still illegal.

“They had an agenda. They got what they wanted and not what they heard,” he said.

A call to KUSA news director Christy Moreno was not immediately returned.

Little Spider has built Halloween-like props for Six Flags amusement parks, the Dollywood Theme Park in Tennessee, and other haunted house entertainment venues.

The company’s a new home is a spacious facility in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. The local Chamber of Commerce lured Brawner to move with a $25,000 grant. In exchange Brawner pledged to create 35 jobs and to make a $2.65 million investment in his business. In Colorado, Little Spider employed 47 sculptors, artists and animators.

The Myrtle Beach Sun News reported that back in Colorado, Brawner had been dealing with a “nasty” local government regulator and too many stoned workers. Those problems made his wife’s entreaties to move more appealing.”

KY, do you blame him from leaving? I wonder where all those dope heads will go to find another job in Colorado. By the way, Texas has been enticing employers to move here for several years with grants and promise to hire workers. It has tended to work very well. Nasty government people plus stoned employees is not a good recipe for a successful business.

It’s his business, he should be able to move it where he wants. Simple. I was just stating the other reasons he considered as part of his decision.

I preface my comments with my belief that climate change is real, it always has been changing and it always will be. I was an early believer in Global Warming and as I began to read and study more, I became more and more skeptical about what became increasingly hysterical predictions about the cause, effect and remedies. Nevertheless, our climate is changing, and has changed periodically in the past. Man’s activities likely have some impact, the extent to which it does, and what can and should be done about it, is subject to a great debate that will not be settled here.

Without diving into that debate, the California water problem is a perfect example of how adhering to ideology over practical adaptation is a recipe for disaster. California’s population has more than doubled since the 1960’s. California has chosen to focus nearly exclusively on water conservation during that time and has greatly reduced the per capita water consumption. However, they have not invested in improving their water capture, storage and transit infrastructure. As a result, they have a crisis when a periodic drought occurs. Had they taken a more practical approach of pursuing both conservation and infrastructure improvements, they would bet better equipped to deal with this drought.

The lesson for the rest of us from this is that when considering climate change, we must pursue reasonable steps to limit what we put into our atmosphere while simultaneously pursuing strategies to help us adapt to an ever changing climate.

Hey Integrity, how about we debunk some of the liberal talking points on the environment and their scare tactics of Global Warming. A study published through the US Chamber of Commerce revealed the following facts.
Myth 1 – Forests are in rapid decline
Fact – United Nations data show that forest acreage has increased over time and no indication this trend will cease in the long term. In 1920, total forest acreage was 732 million acres in the US, today they cover 737 million acres despite a population growth from 105 million to 272 million over the same time. Europe went from 361 million acres in 1950 to 482 million acres in 1990. Despite some deforestation in the tropics, 76% is still covered with forest.
Myth 2 – Air quality is getting worse
Fact – Air quality is getting significantly better. Air emissions have declined 25% since 1970 while GNP increased 161% in the same period. Lead is down 97%, sulfur oxides down 67%, carbon monoxide down 66%, nitrogen oxides down 38% and ozone down 31%. Air pollution from cars have decreased 90%. It takes 20 new cars to produce the same emissions as 1 car produced in the 60’s.

I could go on with many other reasons why these dunderheads are wrong in their belief system.

“..nearly two-thirds of the country’s fruits and nuts come from California, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture”.

That pretty much sums it up right there, which explains why California is the biggest liberal states around!

I also liked the quote from the scientist..”heat and lack of rain equals drought”. WOW! I feel so enlightened.

Yes integrity, the latest plan is to build a pipeline to Washington State to bring water in so they can siphon off their water. That little smelt fish is really important to California so they don’t capture water flowing down the rivers and just let it go to the Pacific and meanwhile, the farmers land dries up. By all means, let’s not build plants like Saudia Arabia has to convert salt water to potable water. That would be too easy. I wonder if those true believer Hollywood types are trucking water in now to water their yards. It would be horrible if their yards turned brown, wouldn’t it?
