QBE North America announced that Dennis Kearns, senior vice president, underwriting leader, will assume leadership of its Financial Institutions practice in addition to his existing role leading the Transactional Liability practice. He is based in QBE North America’s New York City office.
Kearns’ expanded responsibilities as the Financial Institutions practice leader include leadership of an underwriting team providing customized offerings from “The Solution” suite for QBE’s financial institutions clients.
Kearns has 20 years of insurance industry experience across product development, underwriting and claims management, with a focus on the professional liability segment.
He joined QBE in late 2013 to design “The Solution” management liability and professional lines product suite, which serves public and private company, commercial errors & omissions and financial institutions segments.
Last year, Kearns established QBE’s Transactional Liability practice and led QBE’s entry into the representations and warranties, and tax insurance space.
Prior to joining QBE, he served in senior management roles with several global insurers and brokers, specializing in complex underwriting, coverage, and claims issues.
QBE North America, part of QBE Insurance Group Limited, reported gross written premiums in 2014 of $5.3 billion. Headquartered in Sydney, Australia, QBE operates out of 38 countries. The North America division, headquartered in New York City, conducts business through its property/casualty insurance subsidiaries.
