FBI Statistics for 2016 on homicides in America: number of murders with a semi-automatic rifle: 18. Total killed with rifles of all kinds: 374. Number of people killed with a handgun: over 3,000. With a knife: 1,604. With hands, feet, fists: 656.
Liberals: BAN the AR-15!!!!! (Ignore the fact that semi-automatic weapons have been around for decades – see M16 – and mass killings were rare 40 years ago).
Based on the stats you have provided, I am 5X more likely to be murdered by a gun than a foot and/or fist and over 2X more likely to be murdered by a gun than a knife. I’ll take my chances with the knife, hands, and feet. Now, what you are omitting are accidental deaths by gun and suicides. Care to look up and share those numbers? How about people who were shot by a gun but didn’t die and now how their lives medically altered for the remainder of their days? I’m curious about them, too.

This issue is not about confiscating handguns in America. It is more about the regulation of guns. If you do not support more regulation then you are supporting those who do commit these crimes indirectly. If you are a law abiding citizen why should you care if you can get a gun and have to wait a few days to pass every check? If you fail then you should not own one.
Background checks? Guess who has been against universal background checks for decades? Democrats, led by their ACLU masters. You see, forcing the mentally ill to be registered is not only a violation of their privacy but a violation of their civil rights as well.
So good luck with background checks that don’t include the mentally ill, which defines nearly every single mass shooter in memory.
Spare me the self-righteous condescension and show real compassion by studying the issue honestly.

You’ve missed the point about bodyguards that carry weapons to protect VIPs and, specifically, liberal politicians that are pushing to rescind 2nd Amendment Rights. Liberal politicians are hypocrites in not calling for their bodyguards to be disarmed. Why?

I too believe in gun control. Assault rifles do not need to be available to the public. Doesn’t matter if there were only 18 assault rifle murders in 2016, which must not be correct since the Pulse Club shooting was in 2016. The average American can do without an assault rifle. If murderers are going to murder, let’s make it difficult to kill a mass amount of people.
The Pulse killer used 2 guns. One was a Glock pistol, which kills just as rapidly as a semi-automatic rifle, is easier to conceal, and is just as “semi-automatic” as the big, scary guns you are so focused on.
But otherwise, right on . . . don’t let facts get in the way.
Craig, you didn’t mention the other gun. Wasn’t it a MCX, which is basically an assault rifle??? What did you say about facts??? Maybe you can tell us why people need assault rifles and therefore they should be available to purchase?

It will be the individuals coming together that will effectuate change.
Liberals are the majority, live in areas with the most amount of wealth, and are by and large more educated. Why wouldn’t you cater to the majority when it expresses its motives?
This is simple economics. If they had something to gain by sticking with a different opinion, they would. FedEx has said, “NRA discounts stay, we won’t discriminate” but if they lose enough sizable contracts? You better believe they will change their tune like many already have.
Your analysis is largely correct that businesses are motivated by profit. But you miss the larger point: political correctness drives the money decisions. Conservatives generally don’t give a crap if a business supports Global Warming or Gun Control or any other political drivel; we recognize it is cynical and just ignore it, so long as nobody (the Left) is trying to destroy that business. For the most part, conservatives just want government and businesses to leave us alone. Dont’ take all our money and don’t tell us what to do.
But businesses know that the Left is religious about their political beliefs, and so businesses play them for the fools they know them to be. “Shop at Starbucks! Schwartz said he cares about diversity/equality/blah blah blah.” And Schwartz gets richer selling fools his $4. coffee . . .

As the expression goes for gun rights advocates: when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. (Or in the case of Parkland, hours away . . .)

My frustration is that so many people posture as if they care about this issue but never take the time to fill in the gaps in their knowledge about what to do about it. It reveals a mass phony pretension in our society now.
The simple solution is to recognize that “assault weapons” kill very, very few people and banning them would solve almost nothing. Over 6,000. people each year are killed with handguns, and many handguns can be fired as rapidly as a semi-automatic rifle.
The simple solution is to recognize that mental illness is the common thread and ban sales to anyone who is mentally ill. But the left will never get behind this. Current law requires a court to make a determination that someone is mentally ill before banning gun sales to that person, and court determinations like this are extremely rare.
The complicated solution is what is happening in society to cause mass shootings that didn’t happen 40 years ago. And the left does not want to go there either, as focusing on issues like family breakdown, violent media, widespread psychotropic drugs, and social isolation detract from the only thing the left ever wants to talk about: gun control.
Because if they don’t liberals will set fires, protest ?
