The Arizona Automobile Theft Authority reported that Arizona vehicle thefts decreased by 15% in 2024, marking a second straight year of decline.
Data compiled by the AATA’s Auto Crime Tracking shows that Arizona had 17,010 vehicles reported stolen in 2024, nearly 3,000 fewer than the 20,006 reported stolen in the ACT database in 2023.
The AATA also reported the most commonly stolen vehicles in Arizona in 2024 have remained consistent over the past two years with Chevrolet Silverados holding the top spot. Kias and Hyundais are again on the list for certain 2011-2022 model years not equipped with an engine immobilizer, a feature that prevents the engine from starting unless the key is present.
The AATA is a division of the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions.
