Allstate Insurance Company and the University of North Texas (UNT) announced the launch of a consumer education Web site, www.insuretexas.org, to help Texans learn about and compare the new homeowners policy forms approved for use in Texas.
Allstate also said it will participate in the helpinsure.com program, recently unveiled by the Texas Department of Insurance, to help consumers find homeowners coverage. Allstate noted that the combined efforts are part of its commitment to promote insurance education and to help Texans find the coverage that is best suited for their needs.
InsureTexas.org was developed by the UNT Financial Services Center through a grant from The Allstate Foundation. The Web site provides a wealth of consumer education about homeowners insurance, including:
• A comparison of the new types of homeowners policy forms recently approved by TDI;
• Practical tips on how consumers might reduce the cost of their insurance; and
• Advice on how to prevent water damage by practicing preventative maintenance.
Content on the site is available in both English and Spanish.
Despite a difficult insurance climate, Allstate continues to offer new homeowners insurance policies to qualifying customers in Texas. The company is currently writing about 1,200 new homeowners policies per week. Allstate insures more than 600,000 Texas homeowners.
