Oklahoma Issues Directory of Insurers

September 25, 2002

Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher announced the release of the Oklahoma Insurance Department’s 95th Annual Report and Directory.

The 200-plus page book contains a list of every insurance company licensed to do business in Oklahoma, along with lists of surplus lines companies, motor service clubs, health maintenance organizations and prepaid funeral benefits providers. The book also contains a summary of the department’s activity during 2001, as well as a directory of its various divisions and phone numbers for each.

“We are always excited to provide the Annual Report and Directory to the citizens of Oklahoma,” Fisher said. “This publication provides very useful information for consumers seeking insurance coverage. It will also be helpful to agents.”

In addition to providing the names of companies licensed in the state, the Annual Report provides phone numbers, addresses, financial information and the lines of insurance for which each company is licensed.

“It is absolutely critical as Oklahomans shop for insurance that they make sure the companies they deal with are reputable and in sound financial condition,” Fisher said. “This report is a tool designed to help the citizens of our state be informed about insurance. Something as simple as making sure an insurance company is licensed can help avoid major problems when purchasing coverage.”

For the second year, the Annual Report and Directory is available through the department’s Web site. It is listed at the bottom of the OID home page.
